Absolutely the best short video on aircraft carrier operations I've ever seen!

 

And conducted on a French vessel!  We'll probably be seeing more of these ops in the near future...

 

 

Look closely and you can see the two types of hold-back bars currently in use with USN: hydraulic @ 2:10 and T-bar @ 2:19.

 

Also the two types of grabs:  nose-gear and bridle @ 1:52 (last used operationally on EA-3 Skywarriors with USN).

Yup. The shot where they are inspecting the engine intake-from the inside-at first I thought that was the water brakes or one of the cylinders on the catapult.

Toured the "Midway" in San Diego with the Veterans there explaing the principals of operation.That is a big ship.

 

Toured the USS Coral Sea (Midway class carrier) when it was at the pier next to us.  Looked pretty tiny compared to the USS John F Kennedy and USS America. lol

 

That French job is even smaller...more like the Tarawa.
