Cali_Ed
I must have set this up wrong, never had this problem using my press
planeflyer21
Don't have a RCBS but do hand prime. Looks like you have the ram for a small primer installed or there is an imperfection on the ram (ram meaning the part that seats the primer in the case). Cali_Ed
I think I know what I did, lol retard. I think I put te ram upside down the round part is facing up. Is the flat end supposed to be up. Just from looking at the little booklet

survivalshop
<thumbsup> Odd that you are able to do something like that , wonder if RCBS is aware of this possibility .
Cali_Ed
I've been missing out this is so much faster lol
98Z5V
The bottom of the ram is rounded, so there's less friction on it. The flat side always goes up. This is more pronounced on the large-primer ram, over the small-primer ram - watch the small-primer ram closely when you're putting things together to prime. <thumbsup>
AngelDeVille
Turn in your man card for reading the instructions..... Never tried the RCBS hand primer but I do use my Lee for all my rifle reloads .
planeflyer21
Glad you figured it out! Now...in the name of science (and the sheer entertainment of your brethren here on the forum)... Turn it back around and, with safety glasses on, see how fast you have to squeeze the hand to get the primer to pop. Video required.

bubbasks
Yeahhhh. When i first started reloading i wanted to make sure my primer depth was ok. Primed up a 223 case and put in ar. Place against mattress thinking ok this will muffle it...pull trigger and the gf comes running. Yeah. Forgot about it having a birdcage on it and the blast will just come right out the sides. Nice burn mark on my mattress that looks like a star. Good thing i got rid of her so i dont hafta hear about it anymore.
392heminut
Ed, next time squirt it with some WD-40 before you do that and let it soak a minute. Should keep that from happening. Edited February 18, 2015 by 392heminut

PasoGunner
I have the automatic primer feed tube on my RCBS RockChucker. Is Hand Priming better or should I try priming with my press?

PasoGunner
Ok guys Thanks. Looks like I will be ordering a hand primer soon. Do you guys have a preference or is the RCBS hand primer as good as any? Thanks for all the help! Edited June 2, 2015 by PasoGunner
AngelDeVille
I have the Lee, but have seen the RCBS, flip a coin and pick one.
planeflyer21
I have the old-style Lee hand primer...poorly designed, handle broke after, uuhhh, after tens of thousands of rounds. Bought the new-style Lee hand primer and it is much more sturdy...but the ergonomics are a bit sucky. Whatever you choose, ask if you can handle it first.
