clauritzen
So I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of a Next Level Arms AR in .308. I am currently running Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 FFP scopes on .223 and 6.8 AR's. I am looking for some opinions on a good scope for the .308. Should I take one off of the others and replace with a smaller scope and put that on the .308? I did get recommended to look at the Vortex HS 4-16 LR scope but wondering what those with experience have had good luck with. Thanks! FaRKle!
What type of shooting will you be doing with the .308? Do you have any requirements (weight, FFP/SFP, ect.)?
BLKSHEEP
Assuming that you'll be using the 308AR for mid to long range work, if I were in your shoes I'd take the scope off of the 5.56 & install it on the 308, get a smaller optic for the 5.56. Now what's this "Next Level Arms" never heard of them <dontknow> Edited February 19, 2015 by BLKSHEEP

Zebra644
How much you wanna spend? Look at Burris new tactical set up they are now partnered up with Steiner. I love my Steiner
308-24-7
I just purchased the 3x9 burris with e1 redical.. Have not used it yet but looks high quality. I am looking for another for using out to 1000 yards for my new setup. what would you pick from in 5-25x50 Burris models xtr,e1,verosity. All similar in price within 200 buck
Zebra644
If you like Burris stick with them, the XTR 2 is a NICE scope as it looks like the Steiner Military series with a illuminated ret. zero stop and in FFP . I've owned a couple of Burris scopes in my day and all of them were really good glass and issue free and at their price point, hard to beat. clauritzen
I am planning on using it as a hunting rifle for hogs and deer but will also get some bench time working on longer range shooting. I was hoping to get an optic in the $700-1000 range. I was thinking of sticking with Vortex and a FFP scope. I put a link below to the manufacturers webpage. http://nextlevelarms.com/firearms-308.html
NTXshooter
There are a lot of good scopes in that price range. If you like the Viper PST, stick with it, That way you don't have to get used to a different scope.

mrmackc
I have been looking for another scope and a local hunter has a Burris fullview II 4.5 - 14 42mm used one season and has a negotiable price of$200. I have seen them priced on the internet from $400 down to $259 on Amazon and wondered if it is a good scope for a LR308 and why the big variance in price. I may offer $175 is that a decent price for a used Burris or should I buy new for$259?
jtallen83
I'm not familiar with that scope but I and others I know have had excellent ,no questions asked, customer service from Burris.
mrmackc
I have decided to go with a new 3 - 9 x 50 MM Burris new scope, rather than the 4.5 to 14 power 42 mm one
survivalshop
I have several Burris scopes & they are very good glass . I have a full field Tac 30, 3x9x50 on my 24" AR 15 , great scope & a 6.5x20x50 on my 16" 308AR .
