imschur
Im seeing Shotguns with AR style stocks and forearms, Bolt action rifles becoming more modular. "Tactical Rifles" used for hunting.I see young shooters cringe at walnut grips on a 1911Is this a fad or the future? What do you expect we will see within this decade?Any new concepts? 308reloaded
wood is good .I have removed it from my shotguns for syn. only draw back is weight, on shot gun heavy = less recoilHave wood on some rifles but.wood changes with the weather and unless free floating barrel it can change impact . but i have seen so birdseye and curly maple that is so good looking. do you have any that you just wont take to the woods for fear of stock damage? yes. Matt.Cross
I don't think wood is dead or even dying, my Dad just gave me a set of Blackie Collins rosewood 1911 grips that I will be installing rather than the Pachmeyer tactical grips that are on it. I love wood, especially walnut, nothing looks better on a dress gun than wood.

SWshooter
Best quality walnut and excellent engraving wrapped around blued steel will never go out of style.

Dusty44
Synthetic stocks are cheaper to make, less subject to dimensional changes. The kids always think the newest things are the best. ("How could those old folks possibly know what I just learned in school today?") Some of it is fads, sometimes it is what they saw first. Wait a few decades until the synthetics start to degrade as the chemistry of the plastics breaks down or warps from long exposure to hot storage units, or whatever. If the price of oil rises as much as is probable, wood will again be the material of choice and quality older wood stocks will be revered. bgc
I am a big fan of the classic look. Wood furniture is what I prefer, my hunting guns all have wood stocks from my field shotgun to the 22lr rifle. When the latest Brownells catalog came out I was over joyed to see AR15 furniture in WALNUT! http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=38906/avs|Make_3=AR-15zz1zzM4/Product/AR_15_M16_WOOD_STOCK_SETS "Tupperware" is for the kitchen not my gun...
