Anyone have a picture of the Strike industries FDE color dust cover on a Aero precision Coyote Tan Cerakote receiver?  I'm wondering how the colors match.

Did you have yours painted in Cerakote Coyote Tan?  Aero only provides receivers in Cerakote FDE, for a dirt color, from them.

Cerakote also offers THREE different "Coyote Tan" colors - Benchmade CT, Troy CT, and Gen II CT - so you'll need to be specific in which one you're talking about...

Any FDE will always be somewhat different. It'll probably look a hell of a lot better than black. If they have to be perfect, you'll have to paint both at the same time. I'm not saying it wouldn't be cool to see a picture beforehand, just that once you slap it on and go shoot...you're never gonna care again. It'll look great-order away!

With the mixture of FDE and black, I think I'm probably better off with black.  I was hoping it would match a little better.

I kind of like the 2 tone. It needs more FDE to tie it all together.  I'm thinking I'd like a FDE cerakote finish on my flash suppressor, gas block, and maybe the lower rail.  Not sure about the lower rail though.  I could probably paint the lower rail any time.  I wouldn't think cerakote finish on those two little parts would be too pricey.  I doubt if paint would hold up well on a flash suppressor.

Here it is with the brand new out of the box ebay rifle scope that is used an isn't working properly.  It'll probably get sent back, but I do like the model.

No, that's the other one that's getting the adjustable stock and URX type rail.  This stock was originally purchased for that rifle though.

It's bigger than I was expecting.  ( that's what she said :)    Does that joke date me?)  For the price of a new one I'd be really happy with the scope if it was actually new.  It's a FSI Sniper.  It's the cheapest scope I could find with decent reviews and the options I was looking for.  It's 9-24x.  9-20x it seems really good.  The last 4x your eye position starts to affect clarity a bit more.  That could be due to some of the issues caused by the previous owner though.  I didn't need that much power anyway.  I just wanted at least 16x and this is what I found.

I'm not a brand whore or anything, but a $150 scope is going to work like a $150 scope. If you can send it back, consider upping your budget a little. Especially for that high magnification range. Keep an eye on natchez shooting supply for good deals on refurbs and discontinued stuff.

Blue is right Beeks, no reason to have a bitch'in gun if you can't see what ya wanna hit right.

SO MANY guys get it backwards and spend big dough for a fancy gun and then put a cheapo optic on it, ugh!

I would venture to say I have almost twice as much money invested in optics as I do firearms that need them (Rifles).

One good option in addition to Blue's suggestion might be go with a fixed 6X or even 10X depending on what you're wanting to do and take a peek at the SWFA SS lineup, they have some excellent scopes that are worth having and they are $299 bucks! They have a variable to but its mo money.

Good luck with it.

I agree with you guys.  I would have spent more and got something nice, but with two and a half rifle builds in progress, frankly, I'm broke.  The scope is intended to be temporary until I can afford something nice or I sell the gun.  Only time will tell.  Right now I just want to shoot!  Plus I don't know a whole lot about scopes so this cheepo is a good learning experience for me.

One quality  gun is much nicer than two half finished or half asses  guns. I would Shelf the other build and work on one. Combine your best parts. As funds become available divide that beast up like mitosis.  It will cost less and be more satisfying in the long run.

Aside from the scope, I have been focused on quality.  This M14 that I built on a M1 receiver was finished to this point before I started the AR's.  It just needs a bolt latch.  I'll have to custom build it.  I've been shooting it for about 6 months now without the latch.
