survivalshop Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 If you are talking about the Barrel Nut , yes 30-60ft.lb.s , may not take that much to align the the Barrel Nut for the Gas tube . between 30-60 ft.lb. should get it lined up . I Torque to 30 ft.lbs. then tighten up Barrel Nut to the next slot for the Gas Tube , for proper alignment . I have my instructions for my 308 SS-series if front of me .
KeithB Posted December 30, 2015 Author Report Posted December 30, 2015 thanks; but you don't deduct for the 1 3/4" leverage of the wrench? go the actual 30lbs on the torque wrench?

shepp Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 thank you, i was confused :)if your using one of their hand guards that "clamp ons" the the barrel nut, be carful not to over tighten the screws. I've heard some people say there is an easy possibility to strip them out

KeithB Posted December 31, 2015 Author Report Posted December 31, 2015 I just used a Allen wrench and went a touch past tight, havnt ever had an issue with it coming loosethanks,, finding the allen socket is always bad LOL
jtallen83 Posted December 31, 2015 Report Posted December 31, 2015 Midwest usually includes some purple loctite to use between the handguard and barrel nut. Between that and just snugging up the bolts you shouldn't have an issue.
