geistacwm
Gents. My old pump has seized.went to buy another and reached a bit of a issue. Stumped the home depot kids and local shop.I have an hand dug well, approximately 5' wide, and 50 feet deep. I must pump to water tanks about 70 feet away w 50 feet of rise. The water is then gravity fed to my home.Plenty of water at around the 40Ft marker. The issue is this, I cannot use an average shallow well pump. They only have suction down 25 or so feet. Also, I don't think I can use even a low GPM deep well submersible because of the width of the well.Plenty of water at around the 40Ft marker. Can anyone push me in the right direction? Working on a slim budget as well. Worst case scenario, I can drag a well dude out, but id feel pretty bad about snaking his advice and denying him the work. planeflyer21
Would something like these work?http://www.surplusunlimited.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=1700-
geistacwm
Probably not. Its 12v, which seeing as Im solar could work, but the gpm is so high, I don't think it'd have the torque to pull up out of the well and up the hill. Looking for more of a permanent solution. Thanks for the reply though. Edited February 12, 2016 by geistacwm

geistacwm
Super over priced broheim. I know plenty of distros, but not the best pump for my requirements. Edited February 12, 2016 by geistacwm
planeflyer21
I'd be inclined to check the local farm auctioneers, see what they have coming up that is available.
DNP
My dad just got done having a new well drilled at his place. He's got a buddy that's been doing wells for decades. I will see if I can get some ideas from him tomorrow.

mrmackc
You need a downhole submersible pump You could run a 4" PVC well casing down to sit on bottom with the bottom 10 ' perforated. inside the 4" run a 2" well tubing with a 220V deep well submersible (0 to 200'[) and use PVC to pump uphill connected to the 2" tubing, 1" PVC would work to run up hill. A water well driller could do a turnkey job on the pump, casing and tubing with a 220V AC source at the well, you could add the 1" PVC and any valves needed. mrmackc
Thank you sir.Never occurred to me to run a second pipe to house the submersible.Already have pipe in the ground. Awesome.I uses a roll of 2" or 1 1'2 inch black PVC for tubing to 60' with a 1/2 HP submersible, I got at Lowes. You will need a kit to waterproof the connection of the 3 wire cord to the pump motor, and will need a 220 well pump controller. I used 10 Ga. romex in PVC conduit to go from the meter breaker box to the well controller and pressure relayand used nylon ties to tie the pump power cord to the PVC, also tied a 1/2 inch nylon rope to the pump housing for a safety rope incase the pump come loose from the PVC so that I could pull the pump without pulling the electric cord off. I would lay a 4X4 wooden post across the top of the well to fasten the casing to to keep it hanging straight. Here is a link on how to wire up the 220V well pump controller:http://www.insidespaces.org/howtopages/wiring-waterpump/wiring-waterpump.shtml
mrmackc
And I used a 7.5" skill saw to cut slots in the botton 10 ' of the 4" PVC casing just plunge saw 10 or 15 3" slots up and down the PVC on three sides to let the well water inside the casing. Robocop1051
If you don't get it figured out soon, let me know. My family owns a well drilling company. They've been doing water wells for 40+ years.
