tgquacker
I am trying to figure out where to get a 20" stainless steel bull profiled barrel, .308 of course. I really do not want it fluted and dont want to buy a 24'' and have it cut down. idea h's the barrel I want, but in 24''... does anyone know who might make one for around the same price as the one midway has? It's 229.99 and back ordered. I am new to the .308 building and have a feeling that out of tock happens a lot, is his true?

tgquacker
Awesome thank you guys. I saw the one from Fulton armory that CBI has. The only problem is it is a little more than I really would like too pay of course haha and they offer the non-threaded muzzle which I am going for. Another thing id like to throw at you is what about cutting a 24'' down to 20''? If a gunsmith does it do you think it would ruin the ballistics? I'm not looking for a gun to shoot out to 600+. It is really for my brother and its the aesthetics of the barrel and really only shooting out to maybe 300 yards depending on how he feels that day haha Have you guys or know of someone that has cut down a barrel? survivalshop
The 16" in the photo in my post is also a HB with a 0.936" Gas Block & is also Criterion & has a Rifle length Gas system . Shoots almost as good as the 20" , but with less weight .Sorry Robo , I'll delete all photo's of it , so as not to tease you . tgquacker
I do apologize Wash I thought I mentioned your post and looks like I'm the center of uranus here. The only question I have about those ones is that if it has a matte finish to it or not. I think we were trying to go with the stainless look to it instead of the matte finish... any idea? tgquacker
And the gas tube for the 20'' is the rifle length tube and the 18'' is when it changes to the carbine length correct?
washguy
And the gas tube for the 20'' is the rifle length tube and the 18'' is when it changes to the carbine length correct? TG....its a satin bead blasted finish on the BA barrel...no your are not even close to the center of uranus....theres prolly a few in front of you ...loland let me help you with the gas tube lengths...the barrel length has not much to do with the gas tube length until you get into pistol/sbr barrel lengths...like under 12 "....so...there are pistol length gas tubes which you arnt concerned with...then you jump up to carbine gas which can be used on16" barrels or even shorter...it depends on the caliber and how much gas it produces....what you are wanting is rifle length or mid length for your ar308...im partial to mid lengths but im also using it in 16" and 18" barrels...I guess what im saying is no carbine gas tube ...and 18"barrel length doesnt automatically put you in a certain gas tube length and certainly not a carbine length gas tube for an AR308 Wash

I think the gas system is my biggest worry with the thing. I am doing my best to make sure all parts are going to fit together, but the gas system seems a little tricky to me to get it just right. I am thinking about using an adjustable block for it. It will never shoot reloaded ammo I'm sure. Is it worth the extra money to be able to adjust? Or the link you sent me had a barrel that comes with a gas block that is not adjustable...
washguy
Tg the adjustable gas blocks are the ticket....I like em...gas tube length piece o cake...dont fret Wash
