Whats with the single groove polygonal rifling ?   I saw a Barrel ( AR 15 ) that has single groove polygonal 1-7 twist , never heard of it before . One groove , shoot OK ? Strange ! I know most of the 1903's had two grooves , but one ?

After looking at the ad, I think the computer geek that wrote the ad put something he/she thought they heard (single groove rifling).  I can't find any reference to "single groove polygonal rifling" anywhere else.

Received an answer from my email . I replied to ask if any of them have or used one & how did it shoot .

 From Tacticalmtchining

Not a typo.  Its a proprietary rifle technique.

I don't want to tell them , yet , but I may be forced to purchase it , to try . I need a Barrel for a build & this may be it .

  I have a Wilson Combat 1-7 , 16" light wt . to compare it with .

A single groove doesn't throw a good spiral. A half a blade on a fan doesn't push much air. One blade doesn't push much water behind a boat. And you dont see Tom Brady throwing passes with one finger on the ball !

I  looked at some of my poly's....all I saw was one spiral looking  groove   Wash

All the polys I've looked at in detail have a stop sign or pentagon sort of shape, that twists down the barrel.

I'm thinking there is some word play going on with that ad ( I thought Polygonal rifled Barrels really don't have Grooves any way ) & I also can't see a single grove as was described & told them so . Nate will get back with me pretty fast , I have met him & spoke to him when picking up Lowers , I may have to go look at this Barrel .

some more custom barrel manufacturers will broach polygonal style rifling.. but single point cutting is like a kreiger barrel. it does not mean 'one groove'. it means a single point was used to cut the entire pattern. which - i call malarkey. Unless that barrel is in the $500 range.. Would have to be one unique cutting bit.

NEGATIVE!!  Pretty sure none of us want to be peering in any of your tubes.

WE will see , depends on what Nate's reply is , I'm pretty sure these guys have built rifles around this Barrel , they do a lot of work down there & are really busy .
