Hey Shepp! C'mon now brother......everybody around here knows that I'm the Armalite fanboy. Or at least, I would think that five of them would put me solidly in the camp. :lmao:

Oh forsure. Just tired of the ford vs Chevy, glock vs everybody debates but what do I know I own a junk ass dpms

Hell Shepp, none of mine have a brand anymore.  While the three large frames are DPMS compatible receivers, nothing matches.  The Grendel and the 5.56s likewise are on multiple, unmatched uppers and lowers.  No matches but everything works!

You're the man, EngrBob! Not much to building a best of breed AR-15 using various parts you prefer but I know you can get into real trouble fast mixing parts in a 308 AR. No doubt lots of guys here can do the same.

Shepp, I'm sure your DPMS is a great rifle. And I like mine. Variety is the spice of life, as they say!

And when it comes to guns I think we all want a large variety!

Personally, I enjoyed the history lesson and learned a couple of things even though I already knew most of the stuff Quentin posted. Once the OP's question was answered I figure no harm, no foul. We've derailed a lot of threads in a lot worse ways on this board.

since this thread still has some traffic...i`ll ask another question, ASC mags for my dpms 308.

how are these? i`ve been looking for a 5 round mag to use @ bench. dpms only has 4 round.

since i always fire 5rds per test load when reloading, i dont want to use a 4 rounder.

ASC seems to be the only one who makes 5 rounders. mag limiters won`t work in case your wondering

why i don`t use them...the length of the mag while in a bench rest does not cut it.

Idk anything about asc but I thought magpul made a 5? Maybe it's a ten? But still the ten only protrudes out an inch or two, I could messure for you this weekend

thanks, but no need to measure. but with my set up, it must be close to flush. i know this because my other ar10`s

are the same way with how i shoot off the rest i have.

edit...i have already ordered one of these. $16 i believe. i`ll only be using at bench so if it functions

fairly well i`ll be happy. no intentions on using for any other purpose.
