washguy
Tony. Just playin with ya...have you got a pin starter punch.?..makes life easy for the gas block pin. And if the detent pin/spring does not come installed in your upper....when you go to do it ...do it inside a giant baggie....cause the detent will vanish along with spring ... I can gurantee that...they do make a tool for that but thats too easy. Lol. Wash Edited September 28, 2016 by washguy
Tony b
Wash it's all good lol, I need to look that tool up for sure, and I lost both detents on the takedown pin lol, took me an hour to find them to get it put together. I will try to find a pin starter punch, is that a gun tool or would Home Depot have one?
washguy
Tony. Two things i see ...your dust cover pin is too far forward and will interfere with the barrel nut from what i can make out..... and your mag button needs to be screwed down a lil more Thats where the blue tape comes on on the other side...push in the button using a punch and turn the latch a few turns more. Wash The dust cover pin too far forward mabe an optical delusion on my part. Lol Edited September 28, 2016 by washguy

Tony b
I will screw in the magazine release button some more thanks for spotting that. The dust cover pin came installed from aero I will keep an eye on that. Can't wait until my handguard shows up, may need your number for a faster response lmao. LOL so I went down to the bunker and checked a few ar308s that had exposed dust cover pins...yours seems to be sticking out beyond the upper..it needs to go back so its a tad lower than flush...and if you look real close you can see where the bozo that put the dust cover pin in marred the threads on that side .. run the barrel nut up and down with that anti seize to straighten the threads out Wash well crap the aero photo is too small but the pin is pushed back unlike yours Edited September 28, 2016 by washguy
Tony b
Oh man that sucks, good spot wash, I hope my threads are going to be alright. Now I know what to look for when I recieve a upper sight unseen.
Tony b
Wash, i took that assembly apart, and that groove appears to be machined into the threads, and the pin only goes deep enough to clear the threads- the barrel nut must act as a retainer for it. Also the finish is very thin which kind of sucks but by it's a combat weapon not a show piece lol.
washguy
Tony. Well just keep an eye out..all of mine are below the threads and flush or below upper...maybe the barrel nut will not make contact... Wash

Tony b
i checked my order from primary arms, i ordered a aero precision low profile 750 gas block with a ap mid length gas tube. the block is where it should be with the gas hole so the gas tube is obviously way too short. Wait what? You are saying the gas block won't fit on to the barrel journal? And the gas tube won't fit in the gas block? 9 minutes ago, Tony b said: i checked my order from primary arms, i ordered a aero precision low profile 750 gas block with a ap mid length gas tube. the block is where it should be with the gas hole so the gas tube is obviously way too short. And here you are saying that the gas block does fit the barrel journal and the gas tube is to short? Post some pics Tony so these guys can dissect what's going on. Trust me, the gents on here will help you get it figured out, they KNOW these rifles!
Tony b
Sorry for the confusion Shane I couldn't figure out how to delete that first part. I figured out the gas block is correct, the gas tube is too big to fit into the gas block hole and it is way too short, the tube is not even to the threads for the barrel nut. I mistakenly tried to move the gas block down the barrel not knowing I had to line up a gas journal lol. The forum will not let me upload any pic for some reason tonight. Tony b
Finally loaded a bad pic sorry, finally got the tape out I have a 18 inch barrel:( could not upload another photo of the gas block and the gas tube not fitting in sorry
Tony b
it keeps saying there is a problem uploading the picture, at least I know why the gas tube was too short feel dumb but I know I ordered a 16 inch.
Tony b
It will not let me upload anymore sorry that is weird though, so I got a longer barrel than I thought, hopefully a bad gas tube not a bad gas block, will the 12 inch handguard work or do I need to send something back? Tony b
I edited the size and it worked better posting, so here is where my original question stemmed from. The gas tube wouldn't fit in the block, it was too tight to even get it started. now I realize that my barrel is longer than what I ordered and now need a rifle length gas tube, but am not sure if the new one will fit either. washguy
Tony Send it back and get what you need and change the brand of gas block...my suggestion would be to get and adjustable gas block while you are sending stuff back... so change brands of stuff too Wash
