Just not sure if I want to brake it or pig it. A pig sticking out of a 15” Apex tube would be mighty awesome. You gonna TALK about it, or you gonna BE about it?... I'm not instigating or anything... All jokes aside, THAT carbine is now my favorite .308 AR. Hands down. I'll take that thing over the others. Well, I'd take Matt's Mega, but that's not one of mine... survivalshop
Who makes a Barrel for a LR AR in that twist ,if the available Armalite is a misprint ? Not that I'm interested in one , just curious . Edited November 7, 2017 by survivalshop
D.R.D.
.308AR barrel with a 1:8 twist? You'll probably have to go custom. I've only seen that on a couple shorter barreled R700's and custom guns. Never seen a factory barrel on an AR in .308 with that twist. What length are you looking for, and why such a tight twist? You planning on using super-heavy bullets?
bfoosh006
Criterion shows one....http://criterionbarrels.com/barrels/.308_AR/ar-10-hybrid "1018S-HYM" I just sent them an e-mail asking if it is a typo.

StainTrain
True. They are a top Tier Custom Barrel makers. I rarely recommend custom barrels because of all the great drop ins out there. However, if you are at the point that your training has exposed and itch that a 1/8 needs to scratch, you are a candidate for custom barrel. One simple man's opinion. survivalshop
Prices aren't bad for their barrels , might be a little more for a 1-8 , but maybe not . https://craddockprecision.com/ar10-barrels/

They've been at the top of my list for a .260 Rem barrel, since that bug bit me. One of these days...
bfoosh006
Sorry to say .... The Criterion 1n8 was a typo. Criterion e-mailed this morning... should read 1n10 twist.
D.R.D.
I have actually spoken with Litz about this very topic. Of course he said it comes down to BC for long range, and that the tighter twist is really best suited for much heavier rounds like this one that he designed: http://www.buyabmammo.com/308-winchester-185gr-berger-match-juggernaut-target.html
StainTrain
Brian knows his stuff. I will say that from mine and several other that are running the same set up, the 1/8 works great with about anything we throw down the barrel. I will say that where I have seen the most improvement (and I am no scientist) is the 168smk as it starts to make the transition. The POI tracks the ballistic calculator a little more consistently than with 1/12, 1/11.25, 1/10. I like the 185 Juggernaut and it is a fine round. In fact I have a 28 inch bolt that milks a lot of performance out of it. I mean it shines. However out of my 16 inch weapons, it is difficult to find a temp insensitive powder that will push them at a high enough velocity that make me want to use them over the 175 RDF or the 178ELD-M. D.R.D.
StainTrain, What are you finding stabilizes best at distance out of 16" or 18" with a 1:10 twist?
StainTrain
175rdf and 178 eld-m... these two are my go to bullets for reloading. I have a few Berger selections we can discuss if you want to push them out of a bolt gun. I find that the 175 RDF and 178 ELD are more jump tolerant and imho... that makes them a better choice for semi autos and our limited c.o.a.l.
