When he got on that helocopter, after learning that all his buddies were in the shiit - he was only armed with a knife. He didn't take a rifle onto that helicopter. He was nominated for an upgrade to the CMOH, but the time limit expired. That law was changed, then they couldn't find a living witness to corroborate the actions. They finally found an RTO that was there, told the story in a 22-page testimony, and that finally met the criteria for his CMOH. President Reagan gave it to him in 1981. The guy was beyond-human.
