I had a chance a while back to tour a German WW2 sub that was on display at San Diego. I imagime American subs of that era were similar and all I can say is all those submariners deserved medals.

Did a comparable US WWII sub in Mobile, did not feel comfortable just walking through, not a chance in hell I would go under in one!
