I had an M37 50 years ago, a wingshooting version and all blue, probably earlier than '71 though since I acquired mine in 73/74 from a gent who bought it during the Paterson, NJ riots in the 60s if I remember correctly. It never fit me correctly and I always shot high with it so I wound up trading it for getting some work done. But nice action and really great handling otherwise. I took it apart shortly after acquiring it to clean and lube it. That was a mistake! It either wasn't built to be taken apart, ever, or I missed the trick of doing it. I got it back together, but it wasn't easy.

I think they're no longer made, except the Kel-Tec KS7 has the same basic Browning action and is a modern straight line recoil bullpup with plastic and stampings. So they are sorta still made today, but in looking at the M37 and the KS7 you'd never recognize them as related. I have no idea if the KSG is also a modified M37 but that wouldn't surprise me.

Here is another, has the longer tube to hold 8 2 3/4” shells. Bead front post, the receiver has kind of a grove for aiming. Yes it has the hard butt plate that will leave a mark when shouldered and slam fired.

I've got an ancient Ithaca 37 Featherweight that used to be my Dad's.  He bought it used when he was a boy on a lay away plan from the local hardware store.  Took it to school with him on the bus (guns were left in the principal's office during the day) and would go rabbit and squirrel hunting with his buds afterwards.  It was still his primary hunting gun when I was a boy. It's in rough shape at this point.  My older brother fell with it and cracked the stock, which was then glued.  There is also significant rust on the barrel having been kept in a humid lake cabin for decades. I have thought about refurbishing it.  But never quite found the time or motivation.  Ironically, my go to shotgun has long been a Mossberg 500 with dual interchangeable barrels.

Makes me think My dads first shot gun, think its a Remington, bought it in the mid 60’s and scratched the barrel right away riding home with it in his bike basket
