Madhouse Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 Thinking about getting this safe from Costco. Anybody have anything against this brand?http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?prodid=11625662
Robocop1051 Posted March 13, 2012 Report Posted March 13, 2012 Wife bought me the Costco safe a few years ago. My cousin bought same one a year later. They don't say "Big Horn" on them. They seem to work well for us.
imschur Posted March 13, 2012 Report Posted March 13, 2012 That appears to be a pretty good deal with free shipping! When I get my own home I will get a fire rated safe..a big one..a really really big one
392heminut Posted March 13, 2012 Report Posted March 13, 2012 You can't beat the peace of mind a safe gives you when you leave the house knowing that your guns are locked safely away from all but the most determined individuals. Nothing is theft proof, but a safe will stop 99.9% of the people who want to separate you from your guns. <thumbsup>
Tripledeuce Posted March 13, 2012 Report Posted March 13, 2012 Have to agree with 392h , nothing will stop a real pro, or someone who is really determined. Years ago, a friend who worked for a bullett proof vest co was telling me about a break in at thier factory. The thievs used a forklift to steal the whole safe! Put into the back of a truck, and took the whole thing! Terry
alelks Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 A MUST WATCH video: http://www.villagepawnandgunshop.com/gunsafes.html
imschur Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 that was great. One of the things I did was place my safe in a big closet. I made that closet a seperate zone on my alarm system so even if the house is disarmed the closet is still armed. Additionally I added a shock sensor to the safe which is also tied to the alarm. I have a siren mounted above the safe.
mariodesmo Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 I've had my safe in the closet and in the garage. If you have it in a house with a crawl space underyour floors, be sure to reinforce the floor under the safe.I put a concrete block in the ground with a 4x4 post up to the subfloor, with a plywood panel under the subfloor, for added strength. My safe weighs in at around 900 lbs... <thumbsup>
unforgiven Posted March 21, 2012 Report Posted March 21, 2012 Brother Drew what happened to toby? He's the best alarm. <thumbsup>
