Suchu Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 I am looking for a commercially built .308 with a long fluted barrel. 24 at least prefer 26 inch barrel. If no one makes one how about a good barrel, who makes a 26 inch fluted barrel?
unforgiven Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 Welcome from Indiana brother Suchu, <dontknow>
jeffreyC Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 DPMS makes a 24" fluted barrel:http://www.dpmsinc.com/store/products/?prod=2011&cat=1763I also found this: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/118818/ar-stoner-barrel-lr-308-308-winchester-medium-contour-1-in-10-twist-24-fluted-stainless-steelSeems most people buy lighter contour barrels instead.
IowaFClass Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 Right now, I am seriously considering going with Krieger for the barrel. More money but the options they offer, and head spacing issue can be controled by sending the carrier bolt group to them. I guess it goes back to the use of quality parts result in a quality rifle.

MarkB Posted May 3, 2012 Report Posted May 3, 2012 If you don't mind waiting for it, you can also try Lothar Walther.
Dusty44 Posted May 4, 2012 Report Posted May 4, 2012 I have a factory DPMS with free float tube, 24 inch stainless fluted barrel. It prints under 2 inches, mostly under 1 1/2 inches at 100 yards. If I had a really top-grade scope on it and if I could shoot at all well, the rifle is capable of a lot better than that. Most of my groups are two or three holes touching or nearly so and a flier or two. Not the rifle's fault.I have a lot of posts in this forum talking about this rifle.
IowaFClass Posted June 16, 2012 Report Posted June 16, 2012 You are correct about the waiting period! My last F Class rifle took over about a year to get completed, but the results are well worth the wait.
