unforgiven
Pic of LAR-8 buffer, and pin only about 500 rds. haven't counted brass yet [to determine barrel life on all my firearms].Buffer is different no markings.I think maybe because it's collapseable stock.Shows no wear. Spaniky73
I am also running a heavy buffer. Might be part of the problem.
98Z5V
The heavy buffer wasn't the problem, brother - that bolt carrier not pushing the buffer off the retaining pin (when upper and lower close) was the problem, all the way. txchl
I know this is an old issue, BUT if someone will answer a few questions, I'd appreciate it. I have a home built LR-308. It worked great till I put on an adjustable gas block (or I thought it was working.) it has a 20" barrel with rifle length gas tube and an adjustable stock. While cleaning I noticed my buffer retainer is bent?????1. how long should my buffer tube be?2. how long should my buffer be and how long should it be?3. how many rings should my buffer spring have on it and how long should it be?Thx for any help
98Z5V
I have a home built LR-308. Need more information than that. What upper and lower receiver?Sounds like you're not getting the back of the bolt carrier to push the buffer OFF the retainer, when the upper is closed on the lower. It should do that...You'll probably see that the edges of your buffer are getting chewed up, too. Look at your buffer, and post pics of it. EDIT - this should have been it's own thread - a new topic. It's buried in a topic, as it is... Edited October 6, 2015 by 98Z5V
DNP
I heard a bit him fact the other day. Statistically speaking, the RRA's don't have anywhere near the amount of problems the rest do. The down side is, every time we add one rifle to that mix, the percentage jumps by about 33%
