PTR 91

Co-worker ordered himself a PTR91 w/ (20) 20rnd magazines yesterday for $1369.00 from One Source Tactical.

Dealer said it had a new barrel.

I've always been a fan of the HK 91/G3 platform. Does this incarnation live up?

I have fired one, it was nice. I don't think it is original HK91 nice, but better than the CETME I have handled. Not a professional on these though, and would consider one myself that being said. Parts for it at http://www.hkparts.net/shop/pc/home.asp .

They are ok, your buying nostalgia, a niche piece with the PTR. Some purists still consider them surplus parts/refurbs. Mags are dirt cheap and plentiful

All the CETMEs I've seen were pretty rough.

I've got one of the PTR's. They're ok. Fires well (every time). Pretty reliable. Fun rifle with a great look. They don't like cans though.

 

Still would rather have an original G3 though.

does the ptr91 use the same bolt as the original G3 ? because then you might want to point him towards that german plastic training ammo for cheap range time since you can get the lightweight bolt meant to cycle with it too

definitely worth looking into as that stuff is under $200 for 1000 rounds :)
