Microgunner Posted April 11, 2013 Report Posted April 11, 2013 Co-worker ordered himself a PTR91 w/ (20) 20rnd magazines yesterday for $1369.00 from One Source Tactical. Dealer said it had a new barrel. I've always been a fan of the HK 91/G3 platform. Does this incarnation live up?
edgecrusher Posted April 11, 2013 Report Posted April 11, 2013 I have fired one, it was nice. I don't think it is original HK91 nice, but better than the CETME I have handled. Not a professional on these though, and would consider one myself that being said. Parts for it at http://www.hkparts.net/shop/pc/home.asp .
Microgunner Posted April 11, 2013 Author Report Posted April 11, 2013 Thanks for the link, I'll pass it along.
imschur Posted April 11, 2013 Report Posted April 11, 2013 They are ok, your buying nostalgia, a niche piece with the PTR. Some purists still consider them surplus parts/refurbs. Mags are dirt cheap and plentiful
Microgunner Posted April 11, 2013 Author Report Posted April 11, 2013 BTW I love the design and appearance. Me too.
imschur Posted April 11, 2013 Report Posted April 11, 2013 I have a CETME. It took a lot of TLC to make it go bang

Rsquared Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 I've got one of the PTR's. They're ok. Fires well (every time). Pretty reliable. Fun rifle with a great look. They don't like cans though. Still would rather have an original G3 though.
Microgunner Posted April 12, 2013 Author Report Posted April 12, 2013 (edited) Still would rather have an original G3 though. That's a for sure and certain. Edited April 12, 2013 by Microgunner
EasyEJL Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 does the ptr91 use the same bolt as the original G3 ? because then you might want to point him towards that german plastic training ammo for cheap range time since you can get the lightweight bolt meant to cycle with it too

I'm sure he'll let me know though.
EasyEJL Posted April 12, 2013 Report Posted April 12, 2013 Not sure. I'm sure he'll let me know though. definitely worth looking into as that stuff is under $200 for 1000 rounds :)
