on going 7mm08 AR build

So Thanksgiving break is coming, I needed a project, I have a 2-308 and a 260 AR, so I have decided to buy a barrel Blank and make a 22 -24 in barrel for my AR10(DPMS) and chamber it in 7mm-08

not sure why just never see them...I know R25 in a 20 inch is out there but I figure with a Premium barrel and slightly longer, it may be a winner

 

ordered a 26 inch Shilein 1-9 twist CM Blank, I will parkerize it when finished.

I prepped it for blasting in the morning

I hope you are a reloader so you can customize your loads !

You may have to tinker with bolt carrier weight , buffer weight , buffer springs and gas port diameter size. Have fun and good luck !

fired test rounds today, everything worked great accuracy with the Honandy 139 SST sucked but function was perfect

Sounds like you got lucky. How was the recoil ? What was the brass ejection like ?

Way to go brother.When looking for ammo the shelves are empty except for 7mm08 and 270 .What is the bullet wt. range for that caliber??

was looking at 162 grain for this barrel / my second one I just finished is going to be a 17 inch 7mm08 in 1-10 twist, I am thinking 120-140 grain

 

I still need to thread the barrel for a flash hider

standard gasport, here is a start, currently 20 inch barrel

 

and a 308 -20 inch I built for my wife

 

will cammo the 7mm08 hunting rifle the same as my woo K2
