blue109
I have a spare ACS and I was just thinking about listing it for sale. For the heck of it I decided to toss it on my SPR build (currently wearing a lmt sopmod) well, the ACS stayed and the lmt went in the parts box. I really love that stock. Cali_Ed
Ah those lmt sopmods are pricy the b5 sopmod is cheaper lol hmm. You got pics
blue109
Here's the sopmod The lmt and b5 may look similar, but the LMT is rock solid. It feels tighter than my magpul stocks with friction locks. Pretty darn nice. the ACS just fits me perfect though.
Cali_Ed
Super sexy rifle. I'm confused by a simple question If I get a carbine length 308 tube i would use the car-10 buffer to reduce the recoil or just go with the regular 308 buffer as in i dont need the buffer. The car-10 is only needed if you use the ar15 tube correct?
survivalshop
Carbine receiver extension requires a 308 carbine spring & buffer , be it AR 10 or DPMS/SR25 type .
Cali_Ed
Ah i see thanks for your help. What do you guys think of the thordsons featureless stock?
98Z5V
That's a Cali thing, brother. I would never consider that, but I don't have to live there. I did live there twice, but never again. Long story shorter - I have no opinion on that, because it's not subjected upon me. Sorry, man.
Cali_Ed
I think i decided on the rra a2 operator stock kit. It doesn't say on their site if its mil spec just says standard. Are these just proprietary to the lar8?
blue109
Rifle length stocks are standardized. Just have to decide if you prefer A1 or A2 length, but the tube is the same. (longer A2 uses a spacer and longer screw) The commercial/milspec thing is just for carbine tubes.
Cali_Ed
So the a1 would be shorter a tad?
Cali_Ed
One last question if i just wante to buy the a 308 carb receiever extension kit so i dont have to buy the car10 buffer what stocks fit on that?
blue109
The A1 stock is 3/8" shorter than the A2, but the use the same extension. The longer A2 gets a 3/8" long spacer on the back end to make up the empty space, and a longer screw. The tube is standard, but you still need the 308 specific buffer and spring. Any carbine stock will fit on any carbine extension as long as it is the correct diameter (commercial =bigger/milspec=smaller) DPMS uses standard AR15 carbine extensions with a modified, shorter buffer to compensate for the longer carrier. Most guys feel that buffer is too light and go with a heavybuffers setup, consisting on an armalite AR10 spring and a weighted AR10 buffer. Not all 308 platforms use the same carbine extension and parts, but rifle extension are standard. Dpms just introduced totally new proprietary parts and threw all standardization back in the toilet. ok, fact check that for me fellas. Its early. Just tried to stick all pertinent info into one post :p Edited January 16, 2014 by blue109

Fact Check Unlike the DPMS, Armalite AR10 buffer is the same length as the AR15 counterpart, since Armalite uses a longer extension tube to make up for the longer carrier.
