imschur
Not sure if I mentioned elsewhere but the Friday after Thanksgiving my checking account got hit with a bunch of bad charges. Nothing bigger than $100 but there was enough of them to leave me with almost no money. At first I was pleased with BOFA's response but that has since changed. They initially gave me a few temporary credits of the lowest charges and said I need to sign some affidavits vie snail mail. No big deal everything should be cleared up in 10 days. Well everything seemed ok then next payday after my direct deposit cleared there were more charges same as the first wave $89.95 to Acai Nutri. Pissed I called the bank and said how could this happen? I dont even have my new debit card yet. They tell me these charges were in limbo from the old card and theres nothing BOFA could do to prevent this and they could see more charges are coming and can do nothing to stop them. So this scenario is still playing out. I have only managed to get about $100 back so far. They have only sent me two affidavits to date. Both of which they keep telling me they never received via an automatic voice mail and this can imply that their findings will find me guilty. The people are now getting rude telling me i should just let the system do its job and thank you for being a customer since 1997. The claims people also suggest that someone in my house was perhaps making the charges. That really sent me over the edge. First off I live alone except for the cats and the card never leaves my possession. Secondly I googled the companies that are charging my card. There's 1000's of complaints so there's an obvious pattern. You would think there would be an automatic red flag in the banks software.I have also decided if their investigation finds it's something from a vendor I deal with they will be glad to tell me. If they dont tell me anything other than I have done nothing wrong I believe the hole in security is the bank itself.Im done. Im going back to the local bank. The one who had my personal information stolen from a bigger bank they dealt with a few years ago.
Matt.Cross
I have been fortunate enough to get on with the local State Employee's Credit Union, and it's a godsend, I was very fortunate to get on with them before my Dad retired as a US Postal employee. They were instrumental in helping me establish good credit with loan interest rates that are far better than any bank, they're also more understanding about delayed payments than any bank every dreamed of being. I have only ever had one problem with fraud and they overnighted my new card to me and accredited ALL my contested transactions back to my account the same day. Long story short, if you can get on somehow with a local credit union, go for it.

98Z5V
I haven't had any dealings with Bank of Ass (can I say that?...) since they took over the .mil Govt Travel Card BS from AMEX. I hated them then, and I've never opened any kind of personal account with them, over that fiasco. Never will, either. They SUCK. IMHO, of course. <dontknow> Eff them. BLACKTIP
I've had accounts @ BOA, Wells Fargo and a number of other banks and I [finally] wound up @ US Bank, where I have been for the past 5 years. I have been very satisfied with their saving, checking and credit card accounts, [and] their online system [and] customer service has been excellent. I recommend them highly. SWshooter
I've been using HSBC since they bought out the local chain, and contrary to my expectations, they have been entirely satisfactory.
survivalshop
I would change banks . Some of the banks hold on to purchases & lump them into one day, just to hit you with over draft fee's . I am thinking of putting every thing in my credit union at work ,but its also nice to have a bank close to the house.
sellmarkguy
I understand the frustration.Local CU for me. No complaints here, so far!
imschur
Im still battling these guys and getting more pissed. They ruled the first charge for $1 is legit. I realize it's only a buck but it's not my charge. This doesnt give me any confidence in their process. So when I calm down Im going to tell them that I never received the product I paid for.I have to believe ip addresses are logged when stuff is bought online. I have only ever used this account from 2 ip addresses ever, home and work. Both ip's are fixed
