tylerafields Posted July 24, 2014 Report Posted July 24, 2014 Can anyone tell me how to get the f-ing hand guard off of a Remington r -25? I have tried almost everything and can't get it off? Help me please!!
98Z5V Posted July 24, 2014 Report Posted July 24, 2014 (edited) Pair of pliers and a blowtorch. Get medieval on it. DPMS loc-tited that thing on there during assembly. You'll need a good strap wrench and some heat, as well as something to hold the rifle. That's only to get the tube off - the barrel nut will probably have to go, also, so you're gonna need a barrel nut wrench. This will not be an easy fight. Someone made this battle not long ago, and the thread on it is pretty good. Someone will link it in here. Edited July 24, 2014 by 98Z5V
Matt.Cross Posted July 24, 2014 Report Posted July 24, 2014 Heat the ffhg just forward of the barrel nut with a heat gun, heat it evenly all the way around and a strap wrench at the cool end should bring it off with relative ease.
shepp Posted July 24, 2014 Report Posted July 24, 2014 I got mine off with a vise block for the upper and a large strap wrench, it did help that it was a quad rail so it bit into that. That loc-tight is a bastard to break loose

Matt.Cross Posted July 25, 2014 Report Posted July 25, 2014 Hey Matt, I still have that FFHG on my DPMS! <thumbsup> That's awesome that there are parts of the old frankenrifle still kicking around out there!
