EasyEJL Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 particularly looking at the MK9 elite with night sights, but any experience with them would be helpful
Dane Armory Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 There is a shorter throw trigger available. Don't have any details with me. Reviews are good, it has to help. I will get one but it is a low on my list.
Microgunner Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 (edited) I own a MK9 Elite 03. It's a very well made pistol, much nicer than their plastic framed pistols of which I own two and used to own a third. It's nicely weighted and well balanced with a typical silky smooth Kahr DAO trigger. Being a steel framed pistol allowed me to add walnut grip panels sourced from Kahr. It uses the same holsters as their PM9. My problem with it as well as the PM9 is the very stiff recoil springs. My Kahrs P45 and P380 do not suffer this drawback as extremely. I carried mine regularly until I purchased the far superior Boberg XR9-S that has become my favored CCW. I'll bring it to work with me when you drop by to see my new Boberg XR45-S. EasyEJL Posted September 4, 2014 Author Report Posted September 4, 2014 cool, I found a used MK9 elite with night sites for $575. Right now its a tossup between that and thishttp://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/12548/
Microgunner Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 Is that the Elite 98 or Elite 03? There are changes made to the newer 03 and some parts are harder to get for the older 98.
Microgunner Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 I just bought a SIG P938-22 and am completely unimpressed. Of course it's a 22lr and has little in common with the 9mm version with the exception that the frame is the same as the 9. I expected better from SIG but it is a budget pistol (for a SIG).
survivalshop Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 I carrie a PM 45 & it has a smooth DAO trigger & yes very stiff recoil spring , probably why the instruction read to charge the first round with the slide locked back , not sure what comparison that has on the MK9 . I just know I paid a lot for the PM45.
Robocop1051 Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 Similar to MG, I also just bought the Sig P938, but I grabbed the 9mm "Scorpion" model. I gave it to my wife for her EDC.
Microgunner Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 Easy, I've got my Kahr MK9 Elite at work today if you want to stop by and check it out.
EasyEJL Posted September 5, 2014 Author Report Posted September 5, 2014 that sounds like fun. what time are you working till? I found a plain K9 for sale for $500 here in Tampa as well.
EasyEJL Posted September 5, 2014 Author Report Posted September 5, 2014 pm me the name + address, I can't remember it :)
Microgunner Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 pm me the name + address, I can't remember it :) PM sent.
Dane Armory Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 On kahr site... spring modification kits , $42... $44 ... $47 Cound not find link to trigger kit but its 1/8 " shorter stroke. That's the only mods needed for the Kahr handguns. Love mine but don't like the long throw trigger and its smooth crisp DAO action.
