APF Nickle Boron Carrier & DPMS Bolt... Quinten Defence 80% lower with DPMS LPK... The upper and barrel will be sent out to have a 12.5 inch rail installed with the other small parts... Should be done next week sometime,,,

cwikjr Posted October 19, 2014 Author Report Posted October 19, 2014 Got it all togeather and the gas tube is to short by a bunch... It won't cycle shoots good single shot though... It's a mid length barrel for sure... Do I need a ArmaLite AR-10 gas tube??? They are supposed to be .310 longer than standard AR-15 gas tubes... Thats about what I'm lacking in length... Doesn't look like ArmaLite makes a middy or is there AR-10 Carbine a mid length??? The hand guards look longer than standard AR-15 carbine Hand guards... HELP!!!
edgecrusher Posted October 19, 2014 Report Posted October 19, 2014 That's what she said! Sorry, couldn't help it. Only the rifle length is different to my knowledge, mid and carbine is the same. As for length, I'm not sure but I know the opening is different to accommodate for the larger receiver.
cwikjr Posted October 19, 2014 Author Report Posted October 19, 2014 I found some specs on ArmaLites gas tubes on another part of the sight... There AR-10 carbine is a mid length gas system with a tad longer gas tube than a standard AR-15 mid legnth... I'll work it out...

cwikjr Posted October 24, 2014 Author Report Posted October 24, 2014 I'm not much of a rail preson i wanted to put a standard front sight base on it with regular hand guards... I don't have a FSB drilling jig to set the taper pins... By the time I paid to have that done the rail option was cheaper... The APF rail is pretty sweet they made me a great deal to assemble my upper and there CS was top notch...

I read (I think on ARFCOM) that those barrels use the Armalite length gas tube not the mid length as advertised. I haven't had a chance to measure it yet but I will do that this weekend.

No way even the ArmaLite gas tube will work either still to short to mate with the carrier key correctly transfer the gas... So I'm scrapping that barrel and going with a 16 inch barrel with a rifle length gas system... I was leary of a rifle length gas syestem on a 16 inch barrel but was assured that it works well on .308 AR style rifles... KAC uses this on there SR-25 carbines... It should be back Monday so I can give it a try... Also they are putting a 15 1/2 inch rail in place of the 12 1/2 inch rail... I must say the Gentlemen at APF are very professional and went a extra 5 miles to help me out mabey 10 miles!!! I do hope that Primary Arms will refund my money... The Tatical Ambush barrel is nice but just won't fly with the available parts that are out there for AR-10 style rifles... Wish me LUCK!!!

I'm not surprised given the state of the market right now.I use a rifle-length gas system on my MWS. Works great.
