Cali_Ed Posted October 31, 2014 Report Posted October 31, 2014 I wanted to know what projos do you guys use when just making plinking/shtf ammo? Idk if I want to make everything out to be match or what do you guys advice?
TenRingKing Posted November 1, 2014 Report Posted November 1, 2014 (edited) Since my range max distance is 200 yards and my rifle is a short barrel,14.5, not really a long range package, never saw a need for a heavy bullet. Have had great results with 100gr Lapua HP, 110gr Sierra, 125gr Lapua FMJ, 135gr Sierra Match King. All work great and a lot less recoil. My fav is the 100gr Lapua. shibiwan Posted November 1, 2014 Report Posted November 1, 2014 Mostly BTHP. Barnes Matchburners (175gr) Nosler Custom Competition (175gr and 220gr) SMK (175gr and 180gr) Hornady A-Max (178gr and 208gr) Hornady BTHP (168gr and 175gr) The heavier ones go into my 300 AAC subs.
Dane Armory Posted November 1, 2014 Report Posted November 1, 2014 308 plinkers Hornady 150gr HPBT Prvi Partisan 150gr and 168gr Pulled mil spec 147gr
Cali_Ed Posted November 1, 2014 Author Report Posted November 1, 2014 ^ there we go those seem like inexpensive projos. Looking to buy bulk
392heminut Posted November 2, 2014 Report Posted November 2, 2014 This is what I use for plinkers, for both 308 and 300 BLK; https://www.wideners.com/itemdetail.cfm?item_id=7238&dir=278|281|1079|1090|1727
Cali_Ed Posted November 2, 2014 Author Report Posted November 2, 2014 These are the kinds that need a crimp brother?
392heminut Posted November 2, 2014 Report Posted November 2, 2014 I usually put a little crimp on mine with a Lee Factory Crimp die. I crimp for any magazine fed gun.
TenRingKing Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 That is what makes the 308 such a great round to load, 100gr to 200gr and they all preform.
EasyEJL Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 has anyone reloaded with any of the solid copper projectiles?
survivalshop Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 (edited) Yes . Barnes , Hornady GMX's ,& some of , I have no idea who made them , but they shoot decent enough . Edited November 5, 2014 by survivalshop
