ATN ARIES MK SERIES NIGHT VISION WEAPON SIGHTS
Pappy1600 replied to imschur's topic in Optics & Mounts, BUIS,Sights
Gen 1, I have a US Night Vision PVS-14 thats mounted on LaRue mount , works great behind my Aimpoints and it is light. I have read some reviews on ATN and they have not been to favorable for some, Suggest save up for a good Gen 3 optic.I was told that you should not use NV during daylight as it can burn the internals, Also at night if you are using it in an Urban environement with alot of lights you should consider a gated optic. Lucky for you I sell US Night Vision <laughs> -
Both are good, I have a 6500k Yamaha and it runs my whole house, it is gas, but I noticed that the Ethenol that is being added to the gas breaks down and gums everything up, and thats even putting in treatments! pisses me off when have to tear down a carb right before you need to use the damn thing! If I were to do it again I would go Diesel or LP or Natural Gas.

Looks awesome bro! good job.

Have patience man, it's hard with older people, they are set in thier ways and hard to break them from that, My mother in law refused to go to the doctor for years and she paid the price for it at the end by having a stroke. my father before he died was stuborn as hell also, when I had to call the ambulance for him because his blood pressure was high and the medics asked him if he had taken anything for his blood pressure, he just pointed over to the bottle of Scotch on the kitchen counter and said " I figured that would help" The look he received from the medic was priceless but then I know how my father was and thats what he believed would help him.

Here is an example picture ;

My Sig 556 does the same thing, have him try to put some velcro tape, (Soft Side) at the rear of the ejection port. Don't know if that will work? also found this about them; "The ejected shells strike the up-turned charging handle. Only way to remedy that is to bend the charging handle down."

Welcome!, watch your six over there.

HATER HATER HATER!!! <lmao> stop by and visit when you head out this way, will be happy to let you take it out for a run, as long as you don't get any body fluids on it, it's all goooood!

The nice UPS man dropped off a present today!! the good folks at Geissele had sent my new SSA-E trigger for my 901! Last time I ordered it took a couple of weeks, this was less than 3 days! needless to say it was installed in record time, only one issue, the pins supplied by Geissele were shorter than the standard pins, so I just kept the originals. Will give them a heads up. What a nice trigger, can't wait to take it out on the range.

Welcome, good group of people here, no drama like you see in other forums.

I bought a Giraud a few years ago and never looked back, when trimming hundreds of pieces of brass it's the only way to go, just like sharpening up a pencil. Just picked up the 308 conversion for it also, works great.
-
Did 500 of 308 myself, had to seat them with my left hand since I have limited use of my right hand after surgery, I know what you mean about hand soreness!
-
Had to get out of the house, been loosing my mind sitting around.
-
I'll have another glass of Kool-aid please! The trigger SUCKS, ordered a SSA-E, can't wait for that to get here.

Aimpoint PRO PATROL RIFLE OPTIC
Pappy1600 replied to imschur's topic in Optics & Mounts, BUIS,Sights
For the price you can't beat them, I love the fact that they are NV compatible and yes it does work in front of a PVS-14 with a LaRue mount 8), I had purchased a Comp M3 at first before these were available, great optic also but needed to buy a mount for that one, so the price was up there. What size MOA dot did you get? Both the ones I have have the 2 MOA dot and very happy with them. -
That means you're doing your job! <thumbsup>

Any of you guys load with Varget? just did a caliber conversion on my press and looking for some loads to try out, I have LC brass CCI34 primers, a poop load of 147 fmj pulldowns and just ordered some Hornady A max 168 gr and Hornady SST 165 gr. Any info would be appreciated.
-
I have their standard one and have not had any issues with it at all, they do have great service.
-
A brother Squire! thanks for the info, will check it out, I understand what you're saying , I don't want to drop a ton of cash and have issues, that would aggrivate the hell out of me and I have enough aggrivation in my life don't need the added stress <laughs>

I have been reading a lot on these boards and I am learning alot from some very knowledgeble individuals who post here. I have never built a rifle from scratch, other than adding some accessories and doing some trigger work and doing alot of shooting that is my experience with AR's. I always thought it was just easier to drop the cash and buy complete from a manufacturer, my biggest fear is building something and having it blow up in my face, I have a mechanical background so that is not an issue of being able to do it. Seeing what you folks turn out and the pure love of what you guys do is making me question my choice of buying vs building. To be able to build something and say "Hey I built this" has to be so much more gratifing than saying "Hey look what I bought", I would love to be able to build something and hand down to my kids so they can say "My Pop built this rifle" My questions to you guys are; 1) What am I looking at to invest in specialized tools in order to be able to do a build? I have some basic Gunsmith tools, but nothing specific for AR's besides a few punches and a brass hammer, what kind of cost is it to get set up? 2) Expense? to build a kick ass rifle how much will it cost me to do this build? I don't want to go crazy but I want a nice shooter. 3) Caliber? I tend to lean towards military calibers, but open to ideas of something out of the box. 4) Reliability? How reliable are your builds? I don't want to build something and have constant issues. 5) Performance? I want something I can say when I shoot it "Oh poop, what a nice shooting weapon" 6) Have you ever did a build and said; "WTF did I do this for? I should have just went out and bought a rifle?" I don't want to be there, as I am sure you guys did not either if this did happen to you. Your opinions and knowledge will greatly assist in me considering this venture. Terry

How about the Dillon SL900? nice machine but alot of money to spend on a unit that can only do shotgun.
