  1. I think his wife company , ALG , has a Carbine Receiver Extension that is forged from 7075-T6 , I may have to get one of those also to test . I remember there was a Thread on ARFCOM that everyone was saying the MilSpec Receiver Extensions were all made of Forged 7075 & kept asking for a manufacturer to speak up , because I thought they were all Extruded , with the MilSpec being a rolled thread , instead of a cut or tapped thread . Finally a manufacturer spoke up & said it was as I said & they would make a forged one for who ever wanted it , but the cost would as much as a Match Barrel or more . Now ALG Defense & I have seen one other CO. with a Forged Receiver Extension , come out with them. True Mil-Spec Buffer Tube (2) | Add Your Review Availability: In stock Price as configured:$38.00 Description: ALG Defense’s True Mil-Spec Buffer Tube is forged from 7075-T6 aluminum and is nearly double the strength of 6061-T6 aluminum found in most other “mil-spec” and commercial buffer tube variants. A dry film lubricant is applied to the buffer tube, which creates a semi-permanent application of solid lubricant for maximum wear resistance. Built by the Tier One supplier for military contractors of the M4 Carbine, these are the superior buffer tubes that military and law enforcement officers entrust their lives with every day. 2. See this https://forum.308ar.com/topic/13339-ditching-the-sproing/ its not why I purchased this , I needed a Buffer & Spring for this build & said , why not try it , not that if I got the noise it would bother me with the std Buffer Spring . Not only that , but this type of spring is known for its long service life . I think the Tubb's will work for the spring noise also . AS far as a worn Buffer spring , I think if you get into a high round count & that could be any where from 3-5000 rounds or more , unless you are really paying attention , you may not notice it right away , more felt recoil , sporadic ejection pattern & excessive wear on components or even feeding issues .
  3. From the Geissele sight . SUPER 42 BRAIDED WIRE BUFFER SPRING AND BUFFER COMBO FULL DESCRIPTION The Geissele Super 42 Spring was designed to improve the function and reliability of your AR-15 pattern rifle. Its unique spring design uses three independent strands of wire, just like the German MG42 Machine Gun. This concept acts as a harmonic damper and energy absorber by allowing the springs to flex separately from each other. This flex helps displace excess energy which decreases the chance of spring failure and assists with making your AR-15 more reliable. Compared to the stock spring, The Geissele Super 42 Spring has a decreased tendency to lose length and force over a given round count. As an added bonus, it removes the annoying spring reverberations (twang) heard and felt by the shooter through the buttstock. The Super 42 Spring has a 15% stronger average return force than the standard buffer spring. This will assist in stripping rounds out of the magazine when operating with a dirty weapon or when using steel-case ammo. RESOURCES Installation Instructions Reviews (2)
  4. My neighbor got me that in New England when he was up there on vacation & thought I would like it . I think he was in Connecticut .
  5. I got mine at Brownells & it shows in stock .
  6. You can probably find a lower parts kit minus the Fire Control Group , ( Trigger system ) , since you are using the great Geissele two stage Trigger , save a few $$ . $ 740 for a barrel is up there , but if its what you want , they make good Barrels. I have two rifles with JP Hand Guards & love them , mine are not MK3's ,because they are older versions , a V-Tac on a 18" 308 & a AR 15 , I guess they would be the Modular series . Some like the JP's SCS & some have issues with it . I'm building a Billet BRO AR 15 this weekend with a Piston system & they make a very good product . Looks like a good build , you have in mind .
  7. Here it is , I will get some more Photos when installing it in my build this weekend . I read a std AR 15 Buffer will not fit in this spring .
  8. I have to say this is a nicely made system . Since Robocop said no Gas Rings , I tried the Bolt with the Gas rings on it & it slides in there with no resistance with the Rings on the Bolt , but this is my first AR piston system & will see how it works with pout them & with them , they are not needed , thats for sure . I will post more in the build section , when installing this kit in the build . Everything should be here Saturday .
  9. Thats great & hope it works out for you , but I would much rather have a doz. Gas Ring sets wear out , then one Bolt or Carrier & in my experience , that is what will happen & I believe I said as much the last time you brought this up. Keep us informed on the progress , it is interesting , ya never know , there are a lot of pistons with out separate rings for sealing . There is a lot more to those rings then just sealing the gas piston for proper cycling . The Firing Pin is also a sort of valve , both in actuating a seal & relieving gas , like a relieve valve . Look closely at the ports in the Bolt carrier . Its all about cost in my opinion .
  10. They admitted as much , but used terms like it was left on the cutting room floor , so to speak . They got busted & they gave some lame excuse , I'm going to apologize before I even give my opinion , but these people should be dealt with , with over whelming power , gas , rubber bullets , arrest , conviction for inciting a riot & so forth , but with this dicktator in office , they would surly prosecute the LEO's , for protecting themselves . There were those inciting all of this for a long time , in the faces off LEO's , LE showed amazing fortitude in not reacting to these assholes . I know they were upset with one of their homeboys getting lead poisoning , but if it was one of them doing the lead poisoning , it wouldn't have raised an eyebrow .
  11. Welcome from Florida Start a thread in the Build section for some input on your choices .
  12. I can't find a thing on that hunt , but I watched it on TV , isn't that strange , I remember them waiting for an hour or so ,before they went in there after it in the tall brush .
  13. Thats true , but Heavy Bone can cause issues with an Arrow's penetration , where a 357 mag. will have a better chance of it ,not to mention Trauma effects . Has any one seen William Shatner shot that Grizzly with a Bow ? It was a long shot & the Bear ran after the shot but succumbed to the double lung shot .The Guide had a 458 Mag rifle as a back up & when they went into the Bush to retrieve the Bear .
  14. I read that a little while ago , If an Arrow can kill them , why not a 9MM . Its the first guide I have ever heard of carrying a 9MM in the bush , but what ever floats your boat .
  15. Interesting , whats the round count on this set up so far ?
  16. Article read " they were determining if the Assault rifles were legal " is there something new that they had no weapons ? Aslo , if they had Body Armor on , how did a bean bag effect them ?
  17. Florida is a wild & crazy place , its why I like it . I just read that the Zombie in Miami was tested & he only had Pot in his system , no Syn. drugs , go figure !
  18. Yup , I think your right about that . Hay, you see more of this down here because we are free , put the wall's where they belong & its not in FL., we seem to draw these POS 's ,we are the Sun Shine State , soon to be Hurricane Alley .
  19. Both systems use the same Bolt , just how BCG is forced backwards for cycling the action , be it Direct Gas or a Piston Rod . With the DI system , the Gas Rings seal the gas momentarily to cause reward movement of the BCG , with the Piston system, there is no real need for the Gas Rings , maybe help with alignment of the Bolt in the Carrier , like a bearing. Now you got me thinking of why not a Bolt modified like yours , not needing the Gas Rings , for a Piston system , that is . Thing is the Gas Rings are a wear item , along with the Cam Pin & the Bolt its self . Makes one think about it . With a DI system , you could wear out the Bolt & Bolt Carrier at the same time , with out gas Rings . I seem to remember you posting on your modification some where , maybe here or another Forum or was that someone else .
  20. There are actually a lot of good choices out there now a days. & some good threads on them in the 308AR build & parts Sections .
  21. I guess you as as an employer can weed the ones out that don't assimilate They will all pay for this in the end ! What goes around , comes around !
  22. There was another one like this down here , I think near Miami that a guy was found chewing on a guys face , I think on a Bridge & he was one one of synthetics < I don't remember what , but he had partly devoured the guys face . Crazy crap people are taking just for a buz !
  23. Not sure what you mean by the same thing , this is a Piston operating system , not a DI system .
  24. Why , because they say on their web sight that you should only use their parts ? I think we have had some posts here with issues with mixing their Receivers with other brands , but I don't recall any issues with BCG's , I could be wrong , maybe some of these other members will remember . Try a D.Wilson & if it doesn't work , he will refund your $$
