  1. There are many 16" Rifle gas rifles working fine on this Forum , I wouldn't worry about the Barrels Gas Port Hole at this time , something to measure when you get the barrel to make sure its correct before assembly . If you don't mind spending the $$ , there are several ( flip up ) A2 type sights out there that don't need the Taper Pins . You can get the Barrel manufacturer to install an A2 sight for a extra cost .
  2. Guy at the range was shooing one next to me the other day , I have had Select fire & semi auto's & I want another one , if any thing to just go out & shoot it next to my M1 & 1903a3.
  3. That's Great , now go out & have fun & give us a range report .
  4. Might be a good investment , no matter the outcome . If they ban them , even Ghost Guns will probably get you jail time , if you try to hide them. Someone sold the 80% & probably has a list of buyer's , not to mention all the other components that are required to assemble a rifle , They would just need your name on one component bought or be on a email list , to put you on their list to check into or break down your door . Never take for granted what they already know or can find out . If you have purchased one firearm , they have your name , one component for one , they already know or can find out quite easily . Its how the Communists roll , they have plenty of experience , from many Countries over time , to make it work quite quickly & efficiently . The only way in history that can stop them is to fight them , IF it comes to that ! WE absolutely need to get the SCOUS in line with the Constitution , only way to straighten our rights out & nuke these Gun Grabbers & Banners . WE have to reinstitute , that we have , not only a Constitutional right , but a GOD given right to protect ourselves with any means available ! What all these commie's don't realize ( maybe they do ) is we have the largest standing , armed , Army in the world & that fact alone has made living in this Country the Safest place in the world . No Country has invaded us or a foreign Army attacked us ( flying a couple of Planes into buildings really doesn't fall into the category )
  5. We I kind of agree in a way with some this articles points & with good replacement parts kinda scarce , but this is a damn fine rife & it doesn't need to be bedded to be accurate , like this reads & yes one of those hot shot chassis are expensive , but make it even a better rifle . The 308 ARs are a good choice for DMR , but I think this author is off a little on some of this article . http://www.businessinsider.com/why-us-military-getting-rid-of-m14-2016-9
  6. In stock , Tactical Machining TM10 is almost a direct copy of a DPMS & they are well made . http://www.tacticalmachining.com/100-receivers/308-lower-receiver.html
  7. The 18" Criterion, Stainless, Nitrated ,Hybrid Barrel I had shot very good , I just sold the rifle last week ( it was a mistake to let him shoot it last year , he bugged me till I got the right price ). Very easy to clean & not much of any dirt in the barrel , a couple of patches & it was clean . I plan on all Barrels I get from now on will be Stainless, nitrated .
  8. This is supposed to be Drone footage of the war there by a Drone like the one I have . Pretty cool & bad at the same time . This may also be our first look at Hitlery's new America .
  9. I saw the extra weights also ( Try to find them in stock ), but don't think you need them normally . I think that fancy Buffer Spring makes a difference , I normally use a H2 Buffer with a Mid Gas system . Once this barrel breaks in I will adj. the gas system to their spec's , or close to it , their instructions read the spent brass should be between 3:30 -4:00 , mine were more at the 3:00 & a nice pile also . I will do grouping with different Bullet weights & configurations . I have some Barne's Bullets loaded up & a host of different powder charges & brands , ready to go for testing . I will also get some Chrono. results for the hell of it . This is my first adj. gas system & Piston system in a AR & I really don't see much of a difference in shooting , won't know till I do some accuracy testing . I wish I had another Scope like this to install on the DI Carbine to do a side by side with . The wife's has a Wilson Combat , Light S/S 16" Mid gas system & it was a $ 250 Barrel , would like to see how the $ 89 Brownells Barrel stacks up against it .
  10. OOOOOOO K !
  11. I don't think you want it much lighter then 2# 6 oz. , my 16" with rifle gas , is a HB & @ 3# its a little on the front heavy side , but not bad at all. Photo of mine below & it has a 0.936" Gas Block .
  12. I had a chance to shoot my AR 15 Brownells Barrel today , the least expensive Barrel I have ever used on an AR , $89 ,( free shipping at the time), its a16" , mid 0.750 gas system , Nitrated . Not sure what kind of Barrel life I will get out of it , but it shot real good out of the gate . Time will tell & we will see . I am impressed with it , I wish I would have bought two of them . The ALG Defense , single Chamber Brake worked great also , this is a Piston Gas system rifle & it all worked just great .
  13. Too much grease , can't see fitment . Define as far as it will go , is this with the barrel in the Upper Receiver ? Did this Hand Guard come with instructions ? How does the Barrel Nut fit in the Hand Guard with out it mounted on the Receiver . If you threaded an AR 10 Barrel Nut on there , the Upper Is probably toast !
  14. Being my first AR 15 Piston build & with the new Superlative Arms Piston system, I really wasn't sure how this new build would shoot . I didn't set up the Piston systems gas adj. as per their instructions , mostly because I wasn't looking for the least recoil , especially with a complete new rifle . The Superlative Arms gas system is a little different then most or maybe all others out there , their gas adjustment relieves unwanted or needed gas signal out of a port in the Gas Block, instead of just cutting the Gas signal off & having the excess exhausted out the barrel , like most adj. Gas Blocks . I had the gas shut off all the way & opened it up about 3/4 of a turn , might have been more ,I will have to count later . it has a detent with felt clicks when adj. & is adj. with a long alien wrench , which is perfect with a Mid Gas System & a 12" Hand Guard , was not an issue with adj it . I loaded one round in the mag & first shot locked the BCG Back & felt good , so I proceeded to sight the 2x7x25 Burris E1 scope in @ 20 yards , five shots & It was good enough to take to the rifle range @ 100 yards . Sighted it @ 100 yards & proceeded to bam away & I mean Bam Bam away , I give no slack to a new build , it better go through three or four full mags , as fast as I can shoot , for it to pass my muster & the rifle had no issues , almost no recoil . The Hand Guard did get a little hot around the area of the Gas Block , but I don't use that part of the HG when on a Rest , so no issue , plus it was 90 degree's out . I have a target from my test & as fast as I was shooting & with the least expensive Barrel I have ever put on an AR , I think its great ! Center target area is with my Hand Loads , WC 846 , 55 gr. FMJ , Bottom right was with a special solid 55 gr. Coper Bullet , same load spec's . I did a lot of mag dumps at targets of opportunity next to my Target Stand ( Baseball , tin Cans , people leave a lot of crap at the berm ) This is my first trip to the range since they installed the roofs over the shooting lines , they did the Cement Pads last month , what a difference it makes , not sweating out in the sun. All in all , I like it , the Geissele Buffer & the wrapped Buffer spring worked flawlessly , no noise , for those who were wondering , because thats how it marketed . I also shot my wife Carbine POF Receivers with a DI system & really couldn't tell the difference . The BCG on the Piston Rifle , was the cleanest after several hundred rounds , that I have ever seen , but thats what all the Piston heads do say .
  15. Looks similar to a FN Scar , notice how it seems all these new combat weapon systems are colored in some kind of desert color , wonder where the military minds believe the next war will be fought in . Or should I say stay fighting in .
  16. With out the Mag inserted & manually holding the Bolt Catch in , does it hold the BCG locked back ? As 98 is referring to & I have in other posts here, if the Bolt Catch can be altered to be raised higher if the Bolt catch is stopping or at the end of its travel . Thats if the its stopping & pushing down on the Mag follower , keeping the Follower from pushing the Bolt Catch to its full upward movement or travel . This photo is a little blurry , & its a 308AR Bolt Catch, Beside an AR 15 , but it shows the difference in how the angle of the travel stop portion of the 308 AR , this is where you can take material off to increase the travel of the Bolt Catch , keeping the angle , just taking off a little at a time , a Stone or good file will do , it won't take much . This is only needed if the Mag's Follower is not being able to force the Bolt Catch with in its full Travel . Your 80% Lower may not have had the channel in the Lower Receiver milled properly or because of the fit of the Receivers , it may not be enough . Also you may want to inspect the Spring Hole & the Channel , to make sure there are no debris in there keeping it from full travel . Not to mention the correct Spring in there.
  17. If you want that rifle to function properly , spend the $$ on some L7 Lancers or fix, alter the DPMS Mag , I have many DPMS that work just fine & haven't needed any alteration , you may just have a bad Mag.. Below is some info from another thread that has a loose fitment on the Receivers & his Bolt Catch is not engaging also , it shows the height the BC is pushed up with different mags with one of my DPMS LR 308 AR rifles . His was lifting the BC up 0.42" , it doesn't take much to make them work or have an issue . Ok , this readings are off my DPMS Lower , both of mine are DPMS LR's so I only did the one closest in the safe CProducts ( org. ) 0.455" Lancer L7 0.540" DPMS 0.540" PMag ( org. ) 0.495" PMag Gen 3 0. 473" What Mag brand are you using ? It might be a Brand issue , I had a early CMMG Billet Lower Build that worked with any Steel mag, but not the org. PMag . When the Gen 3 PMag came out it worked fine in the rifle , as did the Lancer . https://forum.308ar.com/topic/13447-take-down-pin-problem/?page=2
  18. Just remember the S&B is new 300BLK Brass , not cut down 5.56 or .223 , so the cost will be more .
  19. Just so I understand this , you must have shaved material off the Follower , for it to raise higher in the Mag. Body ? What Generation PMag is your mag. ? Why or how didn't the DPMS Mag not work ?
  20. double post , wtf

  22. I would like to know how they accomplished the Forging of this . When I was part of a discussion on ARFCOM , most were saying that all MilSec , Receiver Extensions were Forged & stronger then the Commercial ones , because the Commercial ones were Extruded & the threads were cut with a Die , where the threads in the Forged MilSpec were cut on a Lathe or something , I don't remember . My argument was , if they are both Extruded , the Commercial Extension should be stronger , because it had a larger out side diameter then the MilSpec. They are both the same inside diameter , so how can they say the Commercial is weaker . Now it all may depend on material or metallurgy used to make them , I can believe that . I can believe one made of 7075 & the other made of 6061 material , that may be true , but the Forged , I wasn't buying it . This all came about because they say the Commercial Extensions were breaking on Combat courses & some were , but far too many factors involved to just say the type of Extension was the issue . I kept saying I didn't believe it , I kept asking for a Manufacturer to speak up on how they are made & finally one did & said he would custom make a Forged Extension , if someone wanted one , but it would be the cost of a complete lower Receiver assembly . At the time , this was many years ago , that would make them around $ 100 for a Receiver Extension & the MilSpec's were around $20 for a good one . So , ALG Defense must have come up with a more economically procedure to make them . There is another manufacture out there that is also making them , I remember reading about a couple years ago & I forget the price ( I think it was $78 or 68 , I'm old & this happens ), but they were reasonable also , but not this low of price . I have a photo of the Forged Extension on my BRO Lower I will add to this today.
  23. Have you test fired this rife yet ? With the rifle shot gunned or with the Upper Receiver off , insert & seat an empty mag. in the mag well & take the best measurement on how high the Bolt Catch is raising above the Lower Receivers shelf , the flat area in front of the Hammer . I had photo's of how to measure , but they are gone , but its a simple height measurement . I used a Digital Caliper or dial caliper will work . If the Pins are snug or good fit in the Lower Receiver , its the Upper Receivers Pin holes that are a loose fit , I think you can just alter the Bolt Catch stop area , to let the Catch raise a little more to engage the Bolt . WE need a measurement of how high the Catch is raised by the Mag to compare with ours .
  24. Something is not correct if you have to do this , but you say it will catch & lock back the BCG on an Empty Mag .
