  1. The Tango Down didn't match up to the DPMS 308 lower too good so, on to the BRO AR 15 lower I have for my next build & while I was at it , the lower was so, naked , I put a new Milspec receiver extension ,Spikes Trigger system & mag release. I loaded some test loads & will take the Chrono & both rifles tomorrow .
  2. The barrel, forward or towards the Muzzle will be of smaller diameter of the gas block turned area of the Barrel . It may secure enough for sight operation , but also may too loose for attachment . What's wrong with a clamp on gas block ? This is what you are talking about I just switched out a Tactical Machining 308 Upper Receiver from a SI Defense Billet Upper receiver & I thought they made the old rail height , oh well . The JP AR 15 hand guard is the same Diameter as the 308 ( 2.20" ), The Barrel nut has to be different . This is the same JP hand guard , be it newer than the one on the 308 ,but it matches up perfectly on my POF .
  3. Not sure ,I haven't looked lately.
  4. Yes. Red ones a custom 65 stroker & the other is a 48 motor in a 58 frame .
  5. Spikes has a Enhanced trigger system that's not too bad . I have one & it breaks at 5# & its NIB coated or NP3 , don't remember which , mine has moved from lower to lower until I get another Geissele , to replace it . Its been a good trigger system for three lowers , so far.
  6. They must have known you . <lmao>
  7. Geissele triggers
  8. I thought they used to make two different add on rail heights , 3/8" & 1/4" ? Do not see it on there sight any more , probably why he recommended the railed gas block. There rails , I believe are proprietary, I haven't found one yet that will fit there hole pattern , with out alteration.
  9. Now if you said you were going to buy these , I would understand . <laughs>
  10. I have never seen or used the Rainer, but I have a bunch of the Tac 1's & they are very functional with large scopes on both 308 & 5.56 platforms. Looks aren't every thing.
  11. I have an SI Defense Gen II , Billet ,Upper receiver , its got the extra ,short ,rail on the left side I just removed it from my 16 " Barrel . Very nicely made .
  12. Check out the MechArmor Defense Systems , Tac-1 charging handle , its an ambi. Also.
  13. That all depends on the Barrel , some are made to have a gap for the Hand guard front support & some Barrels are made to seat right up against the gas block stop on the Barrel . Your present Gas Block seems in the photo, to butt right against the Shoulder on the Barrel. With a drill bit close to the size of you gas poet , measure the distance from the barrels gas block shoulder or stop With another drill bit or anything you can get into the Gas Blocks gas port ( remembering the Gas Blocks port will be a little larger in Dia. ) Measure the distance from the ports edge to the Gas Blocks outer flange (flange face that seats on the Barrels gas block stop Flange, I'm using the depth feature of my Digital Caliper ) This measure meant will give you close to where the Gas black fits . Since there is a Difference in Port sizes , you have to use some math to see where it needs to be .
  14. In a vibratory tumble no less , nice. If you pop the primers , the pockets come out the same way.
  15. Also make sure the gas block is indexed/aligned on the barrels gas port .
  16. Ya , but they are using our money to do it . If they are buying up any ammo just to deprive us of it , if that's not Criminal , I don't know what is . Of course we are getting used to the Gangsters in the WH.
  17. Over 24 hrs. & no photo's yet ? <dontknow>
  18. I've Gaged a lot of 7.62x51 chambers & never had a .308 "No Go" gage fit , not saying its not possible , just in my experience , it didn't seat , but that all ,like you said , depends on how it was reamed & what it is & who's doing the Head spacing . Just remember that his builder said he has a special gage , that's why I posted that about the "Improved "
  19. Are you looking to remove or install barrels ? If so, the Knights tool Reads it is designed for install & replacing " Muzzle Devices " . As far as these tools that lock on to the Barrel extension , what's the difference between them & attaching or removing a barrel with " Vice Blocks " ? As far as barrel work. The same problems with potential Upper Receiver Tweaking , using the Vice blocks or a tool that attaches to the Barrel extension ? Same thing can happen . As far as removing/installing a Muzzle Device , clamping the barrel in some way , is the only safe way to do it .
  20. Not sure if that would be a problem . I have many different FF hand guards & you would have to put some major pressure on it to deflect them, to disrupt a Iron sight picture . I see your point though.
  21. Hell, 98 , I had to build a new rifle around the 16" HB just to get to use PMags ! <laughs> I have to get some better photo's of the used Bolt lugs , the wear on it is something I have not seen before , looks like the barrel extension locking lugs seated into the Bolt locking lugs . Not rubbed , but indented , I have thought about this , I wish I would have head spaced it before swapping out the Receivers. I can HS it now , with the old BCG ,but I would of liked to see if anything changed since I did the bedding job on the Receivers. I have also noticed that this 16" & for that matter , the 20" seem to shoot better groups with the old WC 846 ball powder than the IMR 4064 , but my development of 4064 is still too early to tell for sure . I believe the IMR 4064 will do much better at loner ranges than the WC 846 , but only further testing will see how that works out . I also have to get some 175 gr. match bullets to set a load for them also.( I've never loaded for them before ) I have about a doz. Barnes Tac X 168 gr. bullets left & will do more testing on them. Not sure if I will ever purchase them again , I had problems loading them & with IMR 4064 , they were compressed loads , which I personally do not care for .
  22. Its not about ammo purchases for training , I have no problem with that . These ammo purchases are going down , one after another & keep going . I have never & I mean never, seen this kind of purchases in such a short time frame . There is no doubt they are ordering this knowing full well that it will impact ammo availability to the general public & in my case components for ammo . They are not purchasing ammo in the tens or hundreds of thousands , but in the millions & doing it yearly for use over a set time period . Even the non conspiracy theorist are taking notice because of the frequency of them . I think every one should start to think about this .
