I have taken my armalite AR-10 with pencil barrel Hog hunting several trips without cleaning, and we actually got rain on my last trip, which I shot 4 hogs and three Coyotes, with no malfunction... I do not do rapid fire so the lighter barrel suits me fine and cuts down on the weight.

Welcome to the site, DPMS is a good rifle at a good price. Cabelas had the .308 on sale last year for around 800.00. I don't know if there is one near you to check and see if they will go back on sale soon...

Thanks for the info. I just got done using Velspar spray paint for plastic. we will see how it holds.

I bid on a nib Eotech 553.a65 for $400.00. the description said "all black unit" from the copy and pasted description, but this is what I got I was wanting to change atleast my butt stock to a tan one. has anyone tried using plastic paint with any sucess on firearm stocks?
