Survival Yeppers it is melonite ....thing is ive got a lot of melonite barrels that i cleaned when new and they didnt produce all this black.. but all of those other were poly/5r type barrels which dont have the serious grooves/lands like this one does Wash

So i called ballistic advantage and told him what was going on...he said its prolly from the qpq process,,,just go shoot it cause its guaranteed to shoot at least moa if not send it back....so went out and shot it...only got bout 20 rounds down it and its coming in nicely for so few rounds....sweet! Wade my wisdom is to buy a DPMS upper to go with your DPMS lower and stay away from the psa crapola ...in the ar308 arena there is no such thing is in spec as they all kinda do their own thing..some people do run into the tolerance stacking problemo ...but why couldnt you just re barrel the original upper? unless you wanted to keep the 308 I guess Wash
