DPMS Oracle labeling says ".308 multi"
washguy replied to shovel1966's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
Shovel is it a factory built gun or assembled by someone? "We stamp the letter ”K” on the end of the serial number (eg. FH12345K) to indicate a NON factory built rifle. No “K” in the serial number means factory built" from the DPMS website Wash -
Goose you stated this: "Here is yet another case of you shooting off your mouth and being disrespectful without warrant. Not a word was said about external ballistic failures, that is until you stumbled into the room. The fact is for you to infer I was saying that in any way shape or form at all it would then mandate that you were inferring that that bullets would disintegrate even more, IN THE AIR, at shorter ranges!?!? Pure stupidity. 98, I meant they disintegrate upon impact on the target before going transonic, at Mach 1.2 or greater, and I am inquiring from Magwa for hunting purposes would they hold together at subsonic speed at closer ranges and not ruin the meat? Dude do yourself a favor and read the thread and have a feel for whats being said in relation to the conversation before you start playing the arrogant a$$hole over and over again, or rambling off $hit that isn't even pertinent. We may not all be as brilliant as you envision yourself to be, but had you even cared enough to read the thread, or had you any real intention of adding some thoughtful, constructive comment, other than just one more in an incredibly long line of self aggrandizing remarks that goes on ad-ifinitum, or making another insolent attempt at baiting people... perhaps these threads and the OP's would benefit and appreciate it. " It would behove you to tone down your posts in reply to 98Z..... its getting tiresome... Wash

LR-308 Bulk Ammo suggestions?
washguy replied to Walt's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
Walt if you are shooting targets the privi partizen 168 otm match works very nice in my 16"18" barrels.....the privi is almost like shooting federal golds corelokt 150's also shoot well if you are hunting Wash -
Shibi's on it bc is too deep into the upper...all of my bcg's are longer just a smidge...yours is not...I dont see how your bc can contact the buffer when closing? Wash
-
TXCHL did you drop in the bcg and charge handle to see if it goes into battery and then do the blow test....plug up the chamber wrap your mouth around the muzzle...yes I know it tastes good...give it a blow and with your finger inside near the gas tube...you feeling the air? Of course you can use compressed air,but its more fun to get personal with your muzzle So, if your gb is centered over the gas port and your gas tube is aligned and your bcg almost falls into battery...and you got air coming out the gas tube inside the upper....get an ar15 car tube...whichever one fits your stock...mil or commercial...and not one off ebay...and dont get any enhanced type buffer tube either...get a dpms ar308 spring... dpms ar308 buffer.. and as new buffer retainer pin and spring...why be concerned about lengths? if you get the correct parts its all taken into account for you ..if you get the correct pieces...how did you arrive at the incorrect parts that are in there now? just checked some of my 308's all of them have the bcg coming out farther from the upper than your pics...although pics can be deceiving...but the pin being bent is what Shibi sez prolly and open up the adj gas block to start off with Wash
-
TXCHL you stated it was working or so you thought till you put on the adj gas block...sooo lets go back to square one shotgun open the rifle muzzle pointed down and drop the handle with the bcg in....the bcg should just bout go into battery...what your checking is to see if theres any interference with the gas tube and gas key...you could have it off a lil ...get the gas tube aligned with the key first off...and adjust the gas block making sure it is aligned with the port on the barrel and not leaking either. on the problem of it beating the pin up and it not locking back...you said as a side note you dont lock back and you have a single shot...thats not a side note thats major unacceptable stuff right there....why did you put the longer buffer tube in and the ar15 buffer? If it was me i would go back to square one on that too....ar15 buffer tube,ar308 buffer, and ar308 buffer spring...its a cheap experiment that could help solve your probs... need to see if the bcg is taking the buffer off the pin too when closing the upper to lower Wash

Dont need no stinkin can....lol out of my 16" 100dollar barrel they just go poof....get rid of your .223's lol Im confused bout this round...it seems like it hits the berm after going thru the target board with authority, but it aint got no recoil...my farts have more impulse than this round Wash
-
Go ahead and shoot it brother! Wash
-
Me and Char were there first for more than an hour.....empty lanes on the left and right...for such a pretty day we thought it would be full of folks getting ready for hunt season, but the range was empty Wash
-
Char and I went to the range to get our rifles zeroed for deer season using hunting rounds, but took the 300 out for its first test drive. This is a neat lil round...less recoil than a bb gun...will it kill anything...lol?..I was using Becks 150 jsp rounds with the vortex 1x4 and was putting round after round in and around the bull at 100...sweet! Char now sez that this is her gun after shooting it ...I knew that was gonna happen....one thing though is that it didnt eject with authority like my other ar's...held back on last round though....its got pistol length gas...so im wondering if the springs in the bolt which is prolly 15 years old might be the cause? Got some 130 beck TTSX coming...this Beck ammo seems to be good stuff and is made locally . On a fun note a guy and his adult daughter were shooting next to me using some fancy long range bolt rifle shooting at 500 using a sled.. so I was using a shell catcher being the nice guy that I am...everything was kewl until I switched to the 16" 308 with the cooley brake....it blew the gals cap off her head!....if looks could kill...Ha...so got it dialed in....Dad looked over with a relieved look....brought over the twin 308....boooom...2 shots...That Ted Nugent tsx 165gr 308 is some smoking ammo accurate too..Dad put his stuff up and left...they could have gone to many open spots away from me...Oh well Wash
