  1. Olympic Arms Upper, Good Finish, A1 sights, A2 Hand Guards, Charging Handle, NO BCG, Birdcage, very little use, $375 obo. PM only please.
  2. Well, I guess my original post was in thinking the ARMS was a bad product. "Quick Release" and the ARMS mount seem to be an oxymoron. And therefore, in my mind, a bad product. Sure, it returns to zero well, but if I have to carry something else to get "thumb levers" open, then it's not "quick release." And I might as well carry a small wrench or screwdriver and use the Trijicon mount. Some sort of push button lock or something on the thumb lever, and a cam to pull it down and return the mount as close to zero must be out there. I understand some may think I'm crabbing, or that I want my cake and eat it too. But in a hurry trying to get a broken optic off and go to iron sights shouldn't require fumbling with a tool or improvised prying device to get the "Quick Release" mount off. On my AR10 I have Dueck Defense RTS system, so it's not an issue. But on my wives M4 it is. And I know you can use RTS backwards (according to them) for a lefty, but I don't buy it. And until they start making them lefty (not sure why they wouldn't, it's all CNC, so it's just mirroring the program for the bases) it's a QD mount for her.
  3. I hate to use an already overused slogan, but Molon Labe!! I've been seeing that on t-shirts and bumper stickers almost as much as "Don't Tread On Me".
  4. Damn dude! 6 rifles??? Sounds like they are swirling the bowl rather than too busy. We're STILL waiting on the upper for the wives rifle. I really want to tell them to sell the RRA lower and just order an Armalite for her also. Probably have it in two weeks just like mine. Or should have kept her Bushmaster and just bought a new bushmaster upper and sold her old one.
  5. You know, that's right. There are two sides to every story. Thing is, one of the sides is usually perpetrated by a complete asshat. <thumbsup>
  6. Well, that would be just stupid on their part, even if the general populace was dumb enough to turn in their firearms. There are Veterans all over this country who would bury their rifles and some ammunition and stand at the ready to fight. Just say'n.
  7. The only reason any member of the U.N. would vote FOR disarming the American public can only be the opposite of why no other country (re: communist) has ever invaded us in modern times. If the majority of citizens are armed, it would be house-to-house fighting and not worth the cost to an invading force.
  8. Old news. USSOC killed the Mk16 almost a year ago in favor of the Mk17. The whole military has slowly but surely been changing over to 7.62NATO for some time. The math says that if you have to drill an enemy with 3-5rnds average (according to the study) of 5.56 to put him down, and only taking 1-2rnds of 7.62, then having to carry 250-300 rnds of 5.56 vs. 200 rnds of 7.62 (equivalent weight) results in less reloading and more dead enemy. It's also a numbers game with the bean counters I'm sure. It's probably cheaper by pennies or something to make the smaller amount of the larger caliber.
  9. LaRue OBR 7.62NATO. Just say'n. SF Sniper Teams stormed the International Sniper match and took most of it with this rifle.
  10. Ahh, I thought it might be your local terrain. That makes total sense! <thumbsup>
  11. Nice. Was there a reason you picked primarily gray and brown? I've been thinking about doing this on my AR and my Remmy. I guess I shouldn't care, but since they're MINE and not Uncle Sams I, for some reason, have reservations about doing it. I have the paint though........
  12. Wow. LaRue it is. Anyone want to buy an A.R.M.S. mount for ACOG, cheap? ;)
  13. I'll take Texas over Mass. any day. <laughs>
  14. Sued? Wow, really? Maybe I want a LaRue now just because they seem more friendly.......
  15. Anybody? Anybody? *tap tap tap* is this thing on?
  16. Wow, someone's had their thinking cap on! Someone with common sense. <thumbsup>
  17. So, I have an ACOG with an A.R.M.S. QD mount from Trijicon. The A.R.M.S. mount seems to be REALLY stiff folding the levers in, and you need a loop you can hold on to around the levers to get them to release. This seems a bit over the top in force for something that's supposed to be quick release. Am I wrong? And would a LaRue be more operator friendly? I totally understand that this is a piece of equipment that's supposed to hold up in the field, but if I need to fumble with another tool to get it off quickly............ Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  18. "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil if for good men to do nothing." ~Edmund Burke “Captain, my religious belief teaches me to feel as safe in battle as in bed. God has fixed the time for my death. I do not concern myself about that, but to be always ready, no matter when it may overtake me. That is the way all men should live, and then all would be equally brave” ~ Thomas J. Jackson "War is an ugly thing but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feelings which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than hisown personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." ~ John Stuart Mill "These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives everything its value." ~Thomas Paine "It is better to live one day as a lion than a hundred years as a sheep." ~ Italian proverb
  19. Muzzle flip isn't a worry with something like the AAC Blackout muzzle brake. I like that for flip, and the UBR for balance. But that's just my humble opinion.
  20. I think you'll be happy. Their part numbers are pretty easy to understand to. AR10 is what it is, suffix A2 or A4 is A2 sights, A4 is flat top front and rear, and then nothing for a Rifle, and a C for a Carbine (16" Barrel). Mine was an AR10A4C. You can also order black furniture or green. They had both on the shelf for me, but I had figured since I was changing the stocks anyway, and I had an A2 black grip laying around, I didn't care if it was green or black. They had both on the shelf though. Magazines are expensive if you buy only one. But if you look at the sidebar on the left of their screen, you'll see in the sale area they have magazine paks. A 10 pack of 20 rnd magazines is $275. Which makes the magazines $27.50 ea. You can also get 25 rnd magazines. I bought the 10 pack with a buddy and split them. I'm sure someone on here in the AR10 section would do the same. If not, PM me, maybe I'll split a 10 pack with you.
  21. They actually told me it was my fault, and then said I had to send the ENTIRE rifle back instead of just the upper so they could change the barrel length. On top of that, I would have to wait ANOTHER 6-8 WEEKS to get a rifle with the correct length barrel on it. And I live 3 hours drive from their factory. Not cool. Armalite on the other hand verified they had the rifle I wanted, in stock, and on the shelf, and said I'd have it within 7-10 days from the time of order. I allowed the extra four days as I know my gun shop is busy, and I think they only order on a certain day of the week. Regardless, I had a rifle within 2 weeks, not 2 months. I think the fact that both RRA and Armalite are IN Illinois where I live, and both are about the same driving (shipping) distance away, and the service I got with one and not the other speaks volumes. I'm sure the other brand-specific guys on here might recommend their favorite brand also, but I had great customer service from Armalite, and Armalite Guy on here was very helpful also. They have a customer for life with me.
  22. I have the Magpul UBR and LOVE IT. It gives a nice balance. Some will say it's a bit heavy, but I like the feature that the cheek rest doesn't move in relation to the adjustment for length of pull. It's also a bit more expensive that what you listed as your choices. If you keep a watch on here or ebay you can usually find a used one if that's more for you and you want one.
  23. I just bought a 10 pak deal. $27.00 ea for the 20rnd models!!! Still, the price for one looks better.
  24. I ordered an LAR8 before CHRISTMAS, and it JUST came in at the end of April. And it was WRONG. After verifying the order 3 times. They then proceeded to tell me it had been ordered wrong, and yet the person that took my order was "their best sales person, but was no longer with the company." I sent it back, ordered an AR10 from Armalite (which was on the shelf) and had it inside of 14 days. And AR anything fits it sans the obvious stuff that only fits AR15. Do yourself a favor and cancel the order and get yourself an AR10 or ANYTHING else.
  25. I have Dueck Defense RTS. Awesome. And I wouldn't get any other if you are running optics as well. http://www.dueckdefense.com/
