lol. i butchered the FS underneath my carbon tube. just meant it to be for fitting purposes, but its covered and works so why take it off?

saw a discussion on a local forum about PA scopes. reviews seemed to be positive. id buy one before i tried barska/bsa/ncstar/standard bushnell. if you are talking about an elite 3200 id try to go that route instead. you can occasionally find smokin deals on them at midwayUSA/natchezss/SWFA.

i was waiting to try it out before deciding if i wanted a dedicated mount for it. i always figured if i wanted magnification id just put a scope back on. as it turns out i kinda dig the 3x and will be keeping it. will most likely leave it off the rifle most of the time though as im not a big fan of the clutter.

came in today. quick pic. mounted it with a burris XTR ring i had. the eye relief is pretty bad. if i want to keep the rear bus mounted im literally nose to CH to get a good sight picture. other than that it feels really well built and solid. heavier than i expected it to be. very clear. my ring mounts it a bit low, but it has the alignment screws so i still got the dot dead center. ive never used any other magnifier to compare it to, but it seems like a good piece of equipment. theres no way id spend $500 on a aimpoint or eotech 3x setup, and doubt i would have spent $200 on this, but for $70 i kinda wish i bought 2.

man i really want that titan upper! gotta find something to sell real quick!

i have this upper...its a heavy beast. ill probably be chopping that barrel down or selling it to buy a FA titan upper. ive heard people complain about the extra high rcvr rail....but honestly it puts the scope at the perfect height with my bobro mount and PRS stock. very comfortable.

i have the 3-15 EDMR with the ilum and mil. turrets. its more scope than i need for sure. really nice. my friend is a hunting optics snob with leupold, ziess and swaros in his safe and was pretty impressed with it (but made fun of the ffp and big silly turrets lol)

i know people that only buy scopes from natchez. swear by the customer service. there are some killer deals on refurb stuff in there but the site navigation makes it hard to find. i figure if i dont like the tripler il just sell it for $100

not wanting to weigh in on the PC issue, but...in a related personal story...... when i was in iraq, people were naming tents they lived in (tha dawg pound..house of pain...blah blah) stupid things soldiers do on down time. being who i am, and seeing as i was stop-lossed and several weeks past my ETS date already, i made a sign naming my tent "the anti re-enlistment office" this obviously didnt go well, but the real zinger came when my 1SG came to pull the sign down. it was early in the war and we really only had what was in our packs, so i used a rosary some missionary group was handing out to secure the sign. the thing couldnt be seen as it was behind the sign. i wasnt making any political/religious statement, i was resourcefully using the items on hand to accomplish the mission lol. i expected the trouble for the sign (otherwise i wouldnt have done it) the religion based ass chewing caught me off guard, but in hind-sight maybe deserved. the one that came out of left field was my black 1SG trying to frag me as a racist/KKK member for the hidden meaning of the accidentally, and not visible, upside down cross. i spent many days being interviewed by chaplains...EO officers..frickin CID of god sakes. my only escape came from my cool XO and CO letting me slip onto a team going forward and getting the hell away from camp. it blew up into a REALLY big deal. MPs were waiting for me at the ops tent when it happened like i was a domestic terrorist with a ruck full of semtex. was quite an experience.

when i was doing scope research i found people saying the 6-24 glass looked much nicer than the 4-16 glass. it could be a case of one persons opinion vomited all over the internet by people who have never/will never actually look through either scope, but maybe worth mentioning. i was going to get the 4-16 either way as its a more usable range for me.

thanks guys. i honestly didnt even know what a "SPR" was until i started looking for rails for this rifle. unforgiven: the rails come with screws and a threaded bracket for the underside. the cut on the bottom of the rail is made for a 2" OD tube so if its close to that it should work. only problem is you have to drill pretty big holes so the taper-headed screws countersink into the rail and make it through the tube to the brackets.. taking these back off isnt an option because the tube looks like swiss cheese. they are also pricy. i spent about $100 for the long and 3 short ones but they seemed to be the best option for what i wanted.
