  1. Darn good shootin' with that snubby! Multi-port ventilation...just what you need! Or a big-ass mono-port like you did with the 1911. Jon
  2. Today I took only the Savage MKIIFSS to the range and ran a couple of hundred rounds through it. After zeroing for the Remington Golden Duds, I set out working on basic rifle skills I've been neglecting. The AccuTrigger is set at about 3#, and it has the HiViz sights (green rear, red front). Even with that setup on this light rifle, it was easy to pick off left over chunks of plastic bottles, wood, or paper at about 120 yards...usually first shot. You should seriously take a good look at these little Savage bolt-actions! Jon
  3. Both AZ and New Mexico have guided hunts on public lands. The bigger ticket items seem to be black bear, elk, lion, and big horn sheep. Jon
  4. Russian soldier with a bullet in his forehead! http://www.guns.com/2013/05/21/excuse-me-sir-youve-been-shot-in-the-head-photosvideo/ That video was deleted but here is the same one, different link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkDGinOrTCc Jon
  5. Like this one? http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/stock-forend-parts/rifle-stocks/ar-15-m16-ar-style-308-generation-ii-precision-rifle-stock-prs--prod22731.aspx Jon
  6. I must've missed the pic of the second one... Nice! Jon
  7. Properties/assets are held in "trust" for named parties. Name your family, and you die, they still have full access to all of it. Persons may be added or removed as necessary. You can put everything in a trust from stock portfolios to guns to real estate. Some lawyers want different trusts for each type of holding, others do one trust with schedules for certain items. Under the schedule method, you can say wife has access to A,B,C, but wayward kid only has access to B. Check it out. Jon
  8. We just got advised to put other possessions into a trust, as wills don't cut it on certain items. Might darn well put everything in it. Jon
  9. Marlin could make a killing if they reintroduced the 2000! Basically a 795 with a heavy barrel, target style stock, and a great trigger. Jon
  10. That is major suckage! Glad you weren't on it when it collapsed. Jon
  11. They'll repeat it. Happened in '94, a bit less in '96, a little more (here at least) for the 2004 election, big time in 2008, and now this one. If we hit the Powerball, I'm setting up a rimfire production line and running it 24/7/365. People that buy from us regularly will get the same price all the time. During shortages, they'll be the only people to get product. Jon
  12. I used to buy mostly local...until the local Short Bus Voting Society voted us up to an almost 10% sales tax. For small stuff, local...for big ticket, best price from where ever that may be. Jon
  13. Used to have people come in to buy a 3 1/2" Turkey gun, so they could go hunt turkeys. I'd ask if they had a shotgun now, most would reply they did have one. I'd ask "Why not use your current shotgun, just buy an extra-full choke?" Some would say "Because I'm hunting turkey!" "Did your grandfather hunt turkeys? Yeah...what did he use?" Most still wanted the 3 1/2" chamber. Jon
  14. Feels like there's plenty of mock right now. Jon
  15. Always have been able to find them. Even if it is weeks later. The 1-gallon Ziplock trick keeps those springs in check. Jon
  16. Ok... Now that the dust is starting to settle, am I the only one with no room in the banana hammock for a magazine? <dontknow> Not even a mag for the PT-22. Jon
  17. I still have some boxes left over which I'd bought when I had a 590, because I'd read the same. Maybe a 500 but they didn't cycle in my 590. http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/advanced_search_result.php?search_in_description=1&keywords=aguila&x=0&y=0 The big "G&A" selling points were no wad, more per magazine, who cares if the shot is deformed for housework. Maybe I'll try some today in the 930. Jon
  18. Looks like it is designed for use of set-screw or pinned retention, or a combo of both? Jon
  19. 1 3/4"? If you're talking about those stubby Aguila loads, with no wad, some pumps won't feed them at all. Jon
  20. You mean 16. 16x8=dead mofo! Jon
  21. Yeah...we just ordered two of them. Jon Okay...not really Robo. Just seeing how short your chain is.
  22. This is one sweeeeeeeeet rig!! Jon

  24. Personally, I don't go any further than messing with powder/bullet combinations. I've yet to be stumped with this method for finding the "Sweet Load" for a given firearm. A friend who used to reload with micrometer dies, concentricity guages, measured to the lands, sorted brass based on any number of qualifiers, sorted bullets the same way (from the same batch), he once told me "I use to do all that and pull my hair out chasing which variable I thought caused the problem...then I realized I am the biggest variable on any given day. So now I just shoot." That advice hasn't failed me yet. Jon
