    M1 Garand

You may shoot the commercial ammo in the M1 Garand which duplicates the performance of the original service round. Wildly different weights, pressures, and velocities in hunting rounds is how we hear about the oft mentioned "bent op-rod" on Garand-style rifles. Jon
  5. I don't do it. Certain premium barrel makers demand it, other premium barrel makers call it hooey. A couple of years ago I'd found an article online by a benchrest shooter, who set out to demonstrate what happens when you don't break in a barrel properly...just to shut-up all the naysayers. He ended up converting himself to the "no break-in required" camp. If you choose to purchase a rifle or a barrel with a warranty conditional upon proper break-in, then do it. For the experience, you should try hand lapping once also. And for what it's worth, if you've fired five whole rounds at this point without following the procedure of a break-in, you've already voided someone's warranty. Shoot it. Jon
  6. The F-35B is the Marine version, the only one with V/STOL capabilities. The USAF is the A-model, and the Navy's is the C-carrier version. Still very cool! Jon
  7. Encore...Thompson Encore is the one in the bad-boy calibers. Think ARs are bad? Buy anyone of those interchangeable barreled systems. Jon
  8. Tom's got the Ruger GSR. It'd probably be a good round for something like the H&R single-shot .308 rifle too. Jon
  9. Excellent bro! Jon
  10. <laughs> Good one! Jon
  11. Dude I went to highschool with died working on elevators. Someone distracted him, he thought the elevator went by, stuck his head in to see how far down, and the car decapitated him. Jon
  12. Bookmarked! Jon
  13. Maybe not natural... but we can find them in-stock. <laughs> Jon
  14. Welcome winn442! Don't worry...those FAL mags seem to be more available than any American or Russian rifle mags. Jon
  15. There's a dude on MO that did a Bruin hunt in Kamchatka, Russia, with his GG! It's been at least 2, maybe even 4 years since he posted about his trip. Said the guide and the other hunters were mocking his "tiny rifle" with the "obsolete cartridge". Don't remember what round he used but it was one of the +P factory loads. Everyone else had a scoped, belted magnum bolt-rifle. Him and his GG were the only ones to drop a bear DRT with the first shot. Said the guide was truly impressed after that. <thumbsup> Jon
  16. Cool! Those would probably be ideal for a Ruger Scout Rifle or something. Jon
  17. Welcome from AZ OFP!! Jon
  18. He must be pulling your leg. If half the butt-sniffs in politics or media had 1/10 the inkling of making household products into weapons that some of the people I know do, they'd try and ban us back to the stone age. Trucks drive around here all day every day, with chlorine and ammonia in the back. Pressure washers are all over now. Look at the warnings on a can of Raid sometime. I could take a '72 Buick, give it the A-Team "tank treatment" and put some runflats on it, and wreak more havoc in 3 hours than ALL the mass shooters in the past 50 years. Local PDs and sheriff would have nothing to say. They'd have to borrow an A-10 from D-M. Jon
  19. "3/4 of all Tactical Competition shooters"? I'd ask for clarification on that one. Of all the people I know that do competition in various "tactical" areas, I have never heard of them. Jon
  20. Giggidy Jon
  21. <lmao> :909: You know Robo...a 1oz slug out of a 12ga is 437.5 grains. That 45-70 you can get factory loads considerably heavier than that, cast even heavier. And that Marlin will handle SAAMI +P loads also. Jon
  22. That's pretty entertaining! Jon
  23. The XS sights are pretty tall. Skinner will make you front and rear sights as tall as you desire...especially if you tell him why. Jon
  24. Oregon has tighter laws than what I'm used to: http://www.usacarry.com/oregon_concealed_carry_permit_information.html That is just a brief of their laws. Their use of force laws may be all convoluted. Jon
  25. They're giving this case away. Enter on their facebook or website. Jon
