  1. The Battle Mug is too cool. Seriously - If there's a group buy, I'm in.
  2. Either that, or he's only neck sizing the fired brass instead full-length sizing the entire case.
  3. If you'll make it in multi-cam, I'm in.
  4. Completely normal. Think of them as love taps. At least it shows you've actually been firing it.
  5. It would be akin to chumming shark infested water.
  6. Nice reference, dude. Classic gun forum bufoonery! <thumbsup> As far as range attire goes, I once had to shoot a CQB range wearing poly-pro underwear, jump boots and a neck gaiter on my head because I lost a bet with the 1SG.(Yes, there are pictures. NO, I'm not going to post them.) So blacked out shooting glasses and styrofoam doesn't register very high on my "that guy" scale.
  7. Concur that most manufacturers put the "Don't use re-loads" line in their warranties for liability purposes.
  8. Welcome to the site.
  9. You shouldn't be able to push or move the gas block by hand at all. This is probably the root cause of your malfs - a gas leak. I'd take the rifle to your local gun shop and have them re-center/re-pin the gas block. The advice about using surplus ammo in a new rifle and lubing the BCG is very valid.
  10. It's not so much how they feed, it's mainly due to the price of a pmag in comparison to that of an Armalite OEM mag.
  11. I wonder if you can use an AR10B upper on an AR10A lower and vice versa. Think I'll give Armalite a call.
  12. Another Anti-CAA vote here. 99% of the stuff they make is flimsy. The lone exception being the "stock saddle" for the M4 buttstock. Get the PRS.
  13. Having a Magpul or TangoDown mag for the AR10 would rock! Especially if they bring it in at the same price point as the KAC-pattern .308 mags.
  14. If by "manually cycle" rounds, you mean ride the bolt forward slowly then yeah, you'll get malfunctions. Either hit the bolt catch or slingshot the charging handle and let the BCG fly forward. It's a sturdily built machine, you're not going to hurt it. And welcome to the site. If you're near Fayetteville or Jacksonville, there's plenty of AR 'smiths and vendors due to the proximity of Fort Bragg and Camp Lejuene MCB respectively.
  15. I'm an Armalite owner and while I would like it very much if Magpul made an AR10-specific mag, I also realize the Armalite pattern isn't the most prolific. Most .308 ARs are built on the KAC SR-25 model. Magpul simply produced a mag that would fit the majority of .308s on the market. That said, since Magpul routinely provides AR butt stocks for both commercial and TDP diameter receiver extensions it shouldn't be too hard to produce an AR10 specific p-mag. The only thing I can think of to keep this from happening is perhaps Armalite itself won't give up the specs to it's proprietary Gen II mag follower.
  16. Fixed it for you. Many of the posters over there give mall ninjas a bad name. In a similiar vein:
  17. Looks good except for one thing: If you use a riser in conjunction with your scope mount you're going to put that scope pretty high over the bore, which could lead to some zeroing and elevation issues. You also listed a CTR buttstock. With the scope being that high off the receiver, you might have trouble gaining/maintaining a good cheek weld due to the slimness of the butt stock. Since your purpose for this rifle is target shooting, I would look at Magpul's PRS stock or as a compromise the ACS or UBR butt stocks. Plus the added weight of the butt stock will help balance out your rifle.
  18. It's been in the high 50s to mid 60s in SW OK all week. Too bad I had to work all of it. Tomorrow (SUN) is s'posed to be pretty nice too. Gonna try to get to the range.
  19. Just a quick question - since your wife is a lefty, why didn't you consider a stag left-handed upper receiver? Or was one available as a stripped upper? Good call on the Giessle. I've seen too many DPMS LPKs (hammer, bolt catch x 3, hammer spring x2) go tango uniform to trust them.
  20. Welcome to the site, Eric.
  21. I've fired three of the ones you have listed - the POF, the OBR and the LWRCi REPR. All three were superbly made and shot beautifully. Of the three, I give the nod to the LWRCi because the side cocking lever really enhances the ergonomics of the rifle. What puts me off the REPR is the price - over $3k.
  22. No need for a fire suit with me. IMO, 16 inches is the optimum GP barrel length for 5.56- short enough to be handy in short range social situations, but long enough to be useful out to 400m or so. A 16 inch barrel is also a good length for .308, but I consider (IMO, again) 18 inches to be the best for a GP .308 AR.
  23. Yup. I was gonna mention Q-town, but you beat me to it.
  24. I would also replace the stock trigger with one from Gissele. DPMS triggers have a rep for being heavy and gritty.
  25. I'm a bit south of you in Walters, seakrakken. Gimme a holler and maybe we can set up something.
