7.5" Noveske barrel and KX3 brake in 5.56

Just ordered a 7.5" Noveske SS barrel (5.56) and a KX3 brake. Building another shorty fella's (5 just aren't enough). HEY! I've been going through an SBR craze alright? Anyway. I'm trying to find a rail that the brake will fit inside. I'm going for a specific look on this one (you guys have never heard me say that before), and want just a portion of the brake to hang out of the rail. I like the Geissele rails (MK4) but the tolerance is gonna be waaaaaaayyy close (meaning tight). But I like their look. I also found the Samson EVO series of rails......but I like the Geissele better. I can always fall back to a YHM rail like I did on the 300 BLK shorty. It has a large enough I.D. (inner diameter) to fit the brake. But I try to have all of my rifles have their own unique look. And that would be repeating from a previous build design. I know, I know.......that's being kinda anal (not that way) about building these damn things. Feel free to throw out any ideas you've got when it comes to rails. Just keep in mind that the KX3 has to be able to fit inside of it. And it can't be any longer than 10 inches (keep you're Aerosmith references to yourself). STAY TUNED LADIES! This one's gonna come together over the next couple of weeks. I've been getting the itch to build one.....since the last build was late last summer. After all, a guy's gotta do something to keep him out of trouble, right?

Pretty much everything gets built with Armalite LPK's (w/2-stage tac triggers).....Hogue grips.....Raptor handles....BAD levers....Troy (or recently YHM) BUIS's....AAC comps or brakes and Slash's heavy buffers. I'll bounce around with barrels (though I like Noveske barrels), BCG's, stocks and handguards.

Everybody's a ball buster these days. <laughs> Believe it or not (everybody hold on), I do actually have a BRO build on the schedule (no start date yet) with a Fallout-10 upper/lower set. I figure I might as well check out the "other...less civilized" pattern. <lmao>

Oh yeah......the pics (got side-tracked as usual). Pic 8 shows all 3 components of the gas system. Gas plug/regulator, piston and Op rod. Pics 9 and 10 show the different size ports for gas entering the piston chamber. Normal and suppressed mode.

Got the gas system pics for ya fella's. And I think that my little brain has finally figured out why everything on this rifle is so fuckin stiff. When looking at the carrier, the op rod and the gas plug/regulator.....this thing looks like it's been fired. I'm guessing that it was some test firing at the factory. I don't know how many rounds that they'll normally do at any given factory, to consider a rifle properly functioning......but they could've at least cleaned the damn thing. So.....looks like she's gonna get completely torn down and cleaned before I get the opportunity to play with her. Oh well. Gives me something to do tomorrow to keep me out of trouble....besides laundry that is. Yep....that's just the kind of exciting guy that I am on a Sunday these days.

POF builds their triggers so they're modular. It's like a one piece drop-in assembly. Then you pin it. The red area's are side plates holding the trigger assembly together. Yeah, I like the full rail too. I can't wait to see this bitch wearing the can.

Some generic profile pics. The closeup of the receiver gives a decent view of the ambi bolt release (though I ain't one of those damn lefties) <laughs>. The full frontal view shows the adjustment knob of the gas system. Damn. Forgot to pull the gas plug, piston and op-rod for pics. Already too dark around here. I'll have to snap one of them tomorrow. The closer image of the carrier gives a good view of the bearing equipped cam pin. The last one is an overhead of the trigger assembly. Oh....and she weighs in at a tick over 8 pounds empty. The bipod was just for the photo's so she'd stand up. Don't have any spare BUIS in stock at the moment. So she's still nekkid. Gotta change the stock charging handle. Ever since going to the Raptor style of handles last year, the standard one's just feel small to me. As I said before, this sumbitch is tight. I had to use a punch to knock the takedown pin to the side. That thing might need a little polishing to loosen her up a little. We'll see, if she doesn't loosen up over the break-in period. I'll probably put the AAC comp on this weekend. Not sure. Go figure, I actually get the weekend off. Don't think that there'll be any range time this weekend. It's closed from the weather.
