You can do what ever the hell you want, but you asked for help, and that's what your getting. Yes p mags should work but there are some rifles that don't like them, SS has one, mine and others have no issues. There's no milspec with large frame AR's tolerances very from each manufacturer, dpms should be good right out the box, I know mine was. Good luck, read a lot there's a ton of good info in here to absorb

I wanna follow up on this for both parties. I reached out the josh at criterion barrels for RC asking him if he knew of anyone, he gave me his contact info and told me to have RC contact him. Even tho RCdidnt have a criterion barrel josh helped him out and sounds like got a tour of their set up. Also after talking with RC it sounds like criterion may have a new customer ? This is why I love this place and this is why I push places like criterion. I don't personally own their product yet, but do do things like this for people is what makes them great. I hope to shoot with josh soon, if he'll put up with this rookie lol
