There was a knife made by Mad Dog Knives that was ceramic. It was called the MIRAGE Magnetically Inert, Radically Advanced, Galvanetically Exempt. It was meant for EOD use (especially around mines) and was supposed to be stronger than the steel knives they made, even as far as being able to scrape steel from their other knives. The blade sharpness/edge was supposed to outlive the user. If they were able to make a receiver out of that I wonder how much it would weigh, and more importantly how much it would cost.
-
I'd go right through Rainier for it, pending favorable reviews, and IF I owned a MK17.
-
I thought I'd read somewhere that FN was addressing the non-reciprocating charging handle idea?
-
From what I understand about ceramic products, is though they may be stronger than steel, they are more brittle and prone to shattering. That'd be cool as hell though if I'm wrong and somebody could do it!
-
Those are very nice indeed. I may have to go this route as well. Any chance you will be offering LR .308 uppers? Not 80% full ones of your own design.

I seriously HATE proprietary magazines. Good on Handl for coming out with this. Now somebody has to come out with a better looking stock. I said "better looking" Vltor, not new.

I keep recommending them to people who want a great trigger but can't afford the higher end Geissele's. The ALG is his wife's trigger company. You better believe he's not going to let her fall on her face, so the trigger's gotta be good. Maybe not like Bill's higher end triggers (which feel ridiculously awesome), but way better than stock. I guarantee people that swap to this trigger will be more than happy with it.

Nice. Congratualtions. Will you be going out to SD to visit him for graduation?
-
Damn. I saw a whole KMT 18" gun for the same price used.

We made it to the action figure!

That's how you know you've made it Roger. Congrats. -
FASTMags are good kit. I always have one next to my standard pouches as my "OH poop" pouch. The one I know I can get to quickly.
-
Get the Gen 2's. The Gen 1's had the tendency for too much of the sight post to be exposed which is why they addressed it with the Gen 2's. I don't mind the Magpuls, but an oft read complaint about them is they are bulky and the sights obscure a lot of target. I don't mind them though and will try and mod a set when I get home. My hands down favorites are the KAC's. I like them because they fold down if hit, and are very sleek.
-
To be clear, I didn't say Troy's weren't quality sights. Obviously if you are taking your time lining up the sights, aiming at your target and doing your part, you will hit your target. I have an HKMP5SD (converted from an HK94) that is fast and accurate due to the diopter set up of circle in circle with the front blade being exactly in the center. My point is the don't assume these will be as fast and accurate as the HK diopters they emulate. I was going to post links to other forums that expound upon this but thought that might be bad form. Instead I invite you to do a Google search for: Troy not the same as HK Again I'm not bashing Troy's, I would just choose their M4 type front sights to cut confusion. I'm use to M4 sights more anyway.
-
Just to reiterate, the Troy's are NOT like the tried and true HK diopter sights. You may be able to line up the sights quick, but most likely will have to adjust elevation because the elevation is adjustable. To each their own however. I do agree, that I'd stick with flip ups because you never know if further down the road you want to mount an optic.

Island fever. My parents are actually going to live there for a year and see if they get tired of it in that time. Being retired Army allows them access to the PX and commisary so that helps. Looks like I'll have to take custody of his guns while he's gone...

Yeah, that was the one I kept forgetting who the mfg was. Just keep this in mind if you go with the Troy HK style. HK Diopter sights work so well because the front sight wings are round, and the rear aperature is round so your eye wants to automatically line them up, circle-in-circle. This makes for a quick sight acquisition. This work well because the front sight is fixed for elevation in the exact center of the circle. The Troys have adjustable elevation front sights, so although you'd be able to line up your sights quick for windage, unless you're lucky your elevation will be off. Then you will have to take the time to center the tip of the front post. Kinda defeats the purpose of the HK style really unless you just like the way they look. The Diamond ones are the same. Yeah it's intuitive to line those up, but worthless (unless at bad breath distance) if the tip of the front sight isn't exactly in the center. Good thing Troy also has the M4 type wings as well.

As mentioned twice above, as long as the gas block picatinny is the same height as the receiver, you'll have more variety of BUIS' to choose from. Unless you have seriously thin/high cheek bones, stay away from micros (Troy, KAC, HK) as they were meant for weapons with a higher top rail like the HK416. The standard height M4 BUIS are set perfectly for a good cheekweld/sight alignment. If it's going to be an iron sight weapon only, I'd look at Daniel Defense's fixed irons set-up. https://danieldefense.com/components-parts/fixed-front-rear-sight-combo.html LMT makes good quality fixed sights as well though I prefer the lower windage adjustment profile DD's. http://www.lmtstore.com/accessories.html?limit=all

Hawaii's a beautiful place to visit. My bro-in-law was stationed there for almost 8 years. The water, the diving, the surfing and the sushi make it a great place. To visit. There's no way in hell I'd live there as much as I enjoy my guns. No CCW/CHL and limited to magazines of 10rds. No thank you. http://www.hawaiirifleassociation.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=42&Itemid=47

Three more pics. As noted in the title, brand new for $900. Assembled it would look like this except with a quick detach mount: http://sgcusa.com/images/large/Trijicon_ACOG_TA31RCO_M150CP_A.jpg -

I'm going a different route for optics and never found a suitable platform for this one. It's new and has NEVER been mounted. It comes with a GDI quick release mount, Trijicon scope coat, and the ARD and flip caps are both brand new in the pkg. http://www.trijicon.com/na_en/products/product3.php?pid=TA31F Comes with these: http://www.trijicon.com/na_en/products/product3.php?pid=TA91 http://www.trijicon.com/na_en/products/product3.php?pid=TA90 -
I'm glad to see him released, but basically those dipshits got away with holding him for how long? I don't think they're too concerned with keeping him imprisoned (yeah he was in a pysch ward, but held against his will), but actually using his case to set an example. Disagree and we'll lock you up too. Disgusting. Those guys are the EXACT opposite of what being an American is all about. I hope they have to live with that regret for the rest of their lives, and see it every time they look in the mirror.

Mark at L And M Precision did the work for me. He ball end milled three lines in the top of the slide (similar to the Nighthawk AAC 1911) and milled material away for the Docter. It is hard mounted with Ameriglo suppressor sights. To access the windage and elevation adjustment screw on the back of the Docter, Mark expertly drilled two holes through the rear sight which line up perfectly with the screws. Granted all iron sight windage adjustment has to be done on the front sight, but it was on when I got it, and it's really fast and easy to shoot. My wife loves it, but I won't let her have one on her M&P 9 until she gets really proficient with her irons first.

You can't go wrong with a Sig pistol. I love the P226 series, and recently had some custom work done to my P226R Elite. Then my wife surprised me with a Father's Day/5yr Anniversary gift of my dream pistol. A Sig P226 X5 Lightweight. This gun shoots better than my SA 1911 operator and I am more accurate with it as well.

We're losing our rights piecemeal. This is disgusting. I hope he wins and wins big.
