  1. My previous CC was an Iver Johnson Thrasher, a 3 inch barrel 1911 in 45acp. That weighed in at 35 ounces unloaded! The CSX 9 mm comes in at 19oz unloaded. A big difference. A big plus for the CSX is it has a similar design to a 1911. Enough that I can use my DeSantis paddle holster for my Thrasher with it. My IWB holster for the Thrasher fits it as well. And the CSX is light enough I can carry it in a belly band as well.
  2. I have been looking for an all metal, lighter concealeable pistol for a while. Nothing personal but plastic just doesn't do it for me. I tried the M and P and it was okay, but just that. I had been reading reviews on the improved CSX (E edition) And finally bit. It arrived the other day and I haven't taken it to the range yet. So that will be on a later post. But here are my initial impressions. I have never seen a pistol this adaptable and flexible! It is a single action with a safety adaptable for left or right. It comes with 3 magazines, 12, 15 and 17 round with grip extensions for all three. In addition it comes with three inserts to modify the grip to individual hands. Having a XXXL bear paw, I found this useful. I am using the large grip insert with the 15 round magazine and grip extension and it fits my hand perfectly. The frame is aluminum and the slide and barrel treated stainless steel, yet it weighs only 1 Oz more than the polycarbonate framed M&P. The sights are white 3 dot. But it also has the cut out to install a red dot sight if wanted. Really this firearm can go from Micro, to Compact, to nearly full size depending on the magazine and grip insert you choose. I selected the 3.1” barrel, but it also comes with a 3.6”.
  3. If you know, you know. Right R squared?

Up here it's great. Come up next year I will take you
  5. I remember seeing damage in Crescent City California from the Fukashima Tsunami. For some reason, this one only generated some 5 foot waves. We had a 4 foot seiche on Lake Superior last month from an extreme low pressure zone.

yep we are allowed 10 each so we could have picked up 5 more, but why? As it is we threw a bunch back. A bunch of smaller ones and the biggest whitefish I have ever seen! Those are the breeders, so better to throw them back. Got plenty to eat for a few days.

    Caught Dinner

    Caught a few dinners yesterday.
  8. We are in the middle of a torrential downpour/flash flood warning. 4 inches of rain so far and another 3 to 4 inches projected, followed by a 30 mph NE wind dropping the temperature to 57 F. Nasty!
  9. You guys make me glad I live on Lake Superior. Anything over 85 and I wilt.
  10. Water temp is high 50’s, so not bad. Fish fry for dinner was great! And we rarely get over 85F.
  11. Your just waiting for someone to sell you that " broken" Portugese Armalite AR 10 from 1962.
  12. Today the high is 85F. Went out fishing (see picture). By Wednesday the high will be 57F. That's Northern Wisconsin.
  13. Smart move.
  14. Good point. Thanks for a useful excuse.
  15. Today was the day, took every gun apart and cleaned it if it needed it or not. Good practice so I don’t forget disassembly/assembly idiosyncrasies of individual firearms. Now I will smell like Hoppes No. 9 and gun oil for a few days.
  16. Welcome, a good friend is a retired CG Chief. Thank you for your service, and enjoy that new to you AR10!
  17. Congratulations, yes they are a great shooting rifle. Glad you got some magazines with it, as those “B” magazines can be hard to find. The Armalite AR 10’s manufactured in Genseo Ill were guaranteed 1.5 MOA or less, and the AR10 T’s 1 MOA or less. They have become a bit player since they got bought out, but back then they were the top of the heap as far as quality. Good purchase.
  18. EDC Iver Johnson 3” 1911 with 2 extra magazines. Bedside Suppressed FNX 45, tritium night sights and attached underslide flashlight.
  19. Yeah, it’s totally screwing up my astronomy.
  20. Smoke from the Manitoba fires been killing us for the past two weeks. Hacking every morning when I get up. Dog even wants in the house to get away from it. Can’t see the other side of the bay most days.

    Ron - SR-71

Used to have an A12, the CIA version of the SR 71, on display at the Minneapolis ANG museum, but it got moved years ago. Enjoyed inspecting it.
  23. Not a fan of Medical shows, find them contrived and fake. Until I checked out “The Pitt” on Max. If you want to see a very medically accurate show about how a big city Emergency Room works, check it out. The whole season is about one day in a fictional Pittsburg ER. Well acted and well done.
