Staring down a category 3 in our Florida place. The eye projects to pass five to ten miles to the East. Fingers crossed.

Shoots very well. The first shot was 3 1/2 feet to the right. Had it dialed in by 5 shots to 1” high at 75 yards. As accurate as my Henry, but not as comfortable to shoot. It’s smaller, lighter, and with my 3x hands not a lot of space in the lever. The Bushnell variable scope is stuck on 3 power. Pretty common with these old Bushnell's. A little moisture gets into the steel threads on the power selection ring and it rusts tight. Had this before on a Remington 760. All in all very satisfied for what it is.

Now I am really feeling guilty. I went on a Marlin 1894 forum, found the fix was four twists of a jewelers screwdriver, and am wondering what to do with the $50 I talked them down because it needed to be “fixed”.

Well played. Only done a whole Tomahawk once, but I have all my ribeyes with a Bone in Kansas City cut 1 and 3/4 inches thick. Mini Tomahawks so to speak.

I would be happy to feed you and your better half. Been busy Coho Salmon fishing and getting my son married off. Now this will be the last brisket until I order another side of beef next year. Hoping life slows down for a while.

👍🏻I like my Henry Big Boy, I know you will like the 45-70. Just wear lots of ear protection. Which length barrel? I got this for a knock about truck gun that isn’t too big.

That is why I grabbed it. The previous owner did a few questionable moves with it, like taking the front and rear sight off and putting a scope on it, But at that price I can afford to mess around with it. Reading a couple of Marlin forums about what to do to fix that loading gate, then I will take it out and shoot it.

Well just picked up an older used Marlin 1894 in 44 Mag today for $300. Have to get the loading gate repaired, but couldn’t resist. A counterpoint to my Henry 44Mag Big Boy.

Been to Windsor a number of times on Great Lakes business. Really like it. Used to be a place there called Jason’s that was epic and legendary. If you know, you know.

It has gotten to the point I am considering getting a package of Narcan spray, not for myself, but small or large town, people are dying from that schit. Just to have it if someone collapses and needs it. Because you can’t tell anymore who is hooked. And fentanyl kills.

Saw this today: Number You Won’t Forget: 40 If you want to keep your heart safe, it’s time to start pumping up your pecs. Research suggests that men who can perform 40 pushups are 96 percent less likely to suffer from a heart attack than men who can only perform 10 pushups. Take it from the lead researcher: “Our findings provide evidence that pushup capacity could be an easy, no-cost method to help assess cardiovascular disease risk in almost any setting. Surprisingly, pushup capacity was more strongly associated with cardiovascular disease risk than the results of submaximal treadmill tests.” If you want to test your own strength, here is the setup: Set a timer for 90 seconds, and perform as many pushups as possible (full reps only — lower your torso until it’s just above the floor, and then press all the way back up). All pushups count as long as they are completed in the time given — assuming you don’t take longer than a three-second break at any time. In the study, if you rested more than three seconds, that was your final rep count. Unfortunately, the study only tested men, so we don’t have a comparable number for women. But that doesn’t mean upper body strength isn’t equally as important, we just don’t have a clear strength-longevity threshold for women. (For any scientists who read this newsletter, let’s change that.) In the spirit of health, take the pushup test and let us know how it goes!

I agree with a lot of your comments but one little correction. The whole thing with that guy undressed up wasn’t about the last supper. It was supposed to hark back to the Greek origins of the Olympics and be a Dionysian Bacchanal. Still in poor taste but not sacrilegious.

Been back at the Gym for about two years now. Between injury set backs. Haven’t lost much weight but even the wife is mentioning my body, gut and all, is hard as a rock. Gotta say my pet peeves at the gym: 1. Someone will sit on a bench or a machine for five-10 minutes between sets scrolling through their phone, or socializing with someone else . While people are waiting to do their turn. It has got to the point I have lost a little popularity by calling them out on it. Not that I really care. Usually I just tell them I am going to work in on the equipment between their sets. You would think I asked for their bank account numbers! When I started at gyms that was a common courtesy. Number 2 is somebody draping a towel or a water bottle on a piece of equipment and going to work out on a different station, thinking that “saves” the equipment for them. The looks I get when I move their stuff and use it. As far as I am concerned you have dibs on the stuff you are currently using, and everything else can be used by anyone who needs it. Fortunately the gym owner has backed me on both these matters when people complain about me, which these self entitled jerk waters usually do.

My father was an engineer for McDonnell Aircraft back in the day. Worked on the F-101 and was working on the prototype of the F-4 when he got hired away by Honeywell Ordnance. Later went to FMC and worked on the Bradley. Could never talk about that stuff at the time. After the Soviet Union’s fall he had a ton of stories to tell.
