  1. No. Just scratches, but nothing bad. EDIT: and I did keep all my brass, and I kept the double feeds. Looking at both, I can't tell a big difference.
  2. Errrr... So, went to day and it was beautiful. Had the last box of 50 CBC. 100 rounds of ZQ1, and 40 of PMS. I had a box of AE, and FGMM 168. Third mag in double feed. AE. Then a couple more mags a stove pipe. That was CBC. I had a few more. By the last mag or two, I was having double feeds quite frequently. But those last two mags were PMC and ZQ1. No single mag was doing it. At least 3 different ones. Not sure if one of them was a new one. All together I got through about 180 rounds, and about 10 double feeds. Bras continued to be placed consistently throughout. I got home and took it down. Everything was still wet... but I didn't soak it this time. Rings were dry of course. I did not add any lube at the range. I took the ejector apart, but it all looked good. No fouling or shavings, spring and o-ring good. Nothing in the claw. Ejector moved freely. Bolt was still good with lube. At this point I'm pretty bummed. I really thought I had the right fix. This is unacceptable. Double feeds are the worst to clear. As it is, my rifle is not reliable. I did have time thought o finally get some good groups in. Nothing to brag about, but I was at least MOA. I even got some time prone and did much better. Got out to 1000 yards to on steel and it was hitting well. Now I at least have a place to start from and get better. 3 shots at 100 FGMM 168 6 shots. I was nice and tight until the end. From a bench All the above are all different jams. What now?
  3. I like it. Problem with new things though is even if I like it, it does not mean I need it. If I was in the market for my .308 today, I would strongly consider it. But no point selling mine for this. And If I really want a carbine, it makes much more sense for me to buy a AR15... even thought this is a sweet 308 carbine. So... I'm sure they will sell. And if it takes off, more will join in. It just depends how much sense it makes for each consumer. For DPMS... it's a great product.
  4. The Sig 716 has two ejectors. I don't know the rifle, I just saw their stuff. I do not know how beneficial it is... they just say the same thing about increasing reliability... then why does their 5.56 not have dual ejectors?
  5. Oh... and now I am hating... I hate "modern sporting rifle". It's just as much marketing BS as "assault weapon". Except assault weapon did actually have a start in reality... nt just a marketing office. I'm done.
  6. Ya, I want one... only because I was looking at a carbine type and the recon would be really nice. But... that's what I thought... you take a non-standardized platform... you win the standardization war of DPMS pattern... then you put out more non-standardized stuff that won't work with other stuff. I think the only way you pull that off is moving to the AR-15 market as they did and the ability to use more available stuff. You guys know this stuff better than me... but that's what hit me right away. Oh... and did they really mean AR-15 buffers/tubes/springs work... probably just tubes? I also don't know what to think about elastomer. It has to be good because people are going to be skeptical and it will be tested. But I also know elastomer is effected by temperature and no elastomer retains it's properties from -60F to 650F. Now obviously they tested and it still works... but ya, that's going to take some time to be accepted. The only other thing is if two ejectors are better, why does the Ar-15 not need them? Mainly just curiosity questions... not hating. It definitely has my interest. OK... I'm sporting one.... there I said it. :))
  7. Well I have never taken my bolt apart before so that was the last mystery. Ya, the extractor was easy, and the ejector was kind of a PITA. The ejector was clean, and so was the hole. there was a lot of shavings in the bolt.... some. There was some shavings on the pad of the ejector. Not sure if it acted like shim and kept the plate from grabbing good. Well anyway, got it all cleaned out good as new. Installed the BCM kit, and it's good to go. The bolt was pretty easy to clean. Not much grime with all the lube have been running. MilPro7. I will say though that I like the Mobile 1. How could you not as cheap as it is. But last outing I ran it wet and it was a breeze to clean up. I don't have to keep running it wet, but it was nice. I do think this is going to solve my problem. I'm going to order a big box of Federal AE 7.62 and go have fun when the weather cooperates. Obviously I will update when I do.
  8. If I can help an investigation I will. If I am the subject of the investigation, then absolutely not. That is what the 5th is... my right to not help you investigate and convict me. That's the State's job.
  9. We have a lot of rights. We have the rights to bear arms, and we exercise that right. Why in the world would we not exercise the rest of them when our liberty is on the line? ??? I too sort of did not see the point, until I listened to case after case of how doing the right thing and helping an investigation will get you hung. I won't say a word until my attorney is there. And if that means a night in jail, so be it... better than years. All I know is... I will never ever ever never be set free by any statement I could ever give. The police will investigate. The DA will charge me, or not charge me, based on what is found in the investigation. Period. The only thing a statement from me could EVER be used for is to put me behind bars. Period.
  10. Right... what was I thinking? I think I need one. :)) :auto:
  11. So how are 16" 308s? I assume a flash suppressor would be a must? Is 16" about as short as you want to go for aSBR 308?
  12. Ya, I already ordered the extractor springs. Seems most complain about the ejector... but ya, doesn't seem too difficult. It's due for a cleaning so I will take it all apart and see how it looks.
  13. The ejector made a few marks on the brass. I was looking at it after I pulled it out. It is like the casing rotates a bit and the ejector makes a few marks. A lot of my brass looks like that. I have n idea if that is normal or if I should just see one round mark. I have noticed some marks from the extractor, but just figured that was normal from chambering. Any particular reason it takes 4-5 mags to cause it other than it just getting dirty/hot?
  14. Spent round on top of live round.
  15. So then could you sort of explain what is going on? And just so I am speaking accurately... is that what it is, a "double feed"? Thanks.
  16. Great, now I get the joy of taking my bolt apart. Was hoping not to learn that fun job for a while. :)
  17. OK. Not all would need it... but some may? So is this what you are talking about? Meaning is the AR15 good, or is there another .308 version. I did not see one. For the money what can it harm? http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-Extractor-Spring-Uprade-Kit-p/bcm%20extractor%20spring%20upgrade.htm
  18. My bolt is a JP bolt new... well now it's not "new". I have not taken apart my bolt. Some said it was not needed because JP usually does not have problems. But obviously it is possible. In the past I do think I was not using enough lube.... but now it seems like an ejection problem and not a short cycle problem.
  19. UPDATE: So I finally got a little bit of time. I soaked my barrel and chamber in solvent. Chucked up a chamber brush in my drill and went to town. I cleaned my buffer tube and components. Tube measures 7 5/8... more like 7 11/16. But it isn't short. I lubed everything up with Mobil 1 syn 5/30. That tasted good. :) Went to the range. Loaded up 4 mags with one being new from new lot. Those mags are now numbered. I did do a few single rounds to check lock on empty... it did. Used the rest of my CBC NATO to not "waste" my other stuff getting to a malfunction. Shot 4 mags FAST because I did not have much range time. Just ran it on 150 yard steel. That was fun. Everything ran great. Brass was consistently 2-3 feet behind me, and 4-5 feet across from me. 4 o'clock. 4-5 feet. Bolt locked on empty all 4 mags. Loaded next mag... first round in mag failed to eject. Malfunction on first round fired. I then loaded singles and still bolt locked back... then loaded a couple more mags without any malfunctions. That was all the time I had. 120 rounds, malfunction on 81. I have the brass from the malfunction. It was dented, but now I see as someone said it was because of the lugs of the barrel. Thanks. After the malfunction, I watched my brass... gun was pointed down range :) .... and it was still ejecting same place with singles. So.... I used up my CBC, and from here I have American Eagle and will probably pick up some Federal NATO. But in the past AE did it, and so did Federal SMK. I can take pics of my rifle right now. In the past lube has been a question, but it was running wet and still is. My next move was going to be not to clean it, and get back to the range with the same gun and see if I continue to get hang ups as I have in the past. It sucks going through a hundred rounds to get to a malfunction... but after about a 100... they happen with much higher frequency. Any ideas, thought, or suggestions for my next move?
  20. Well I have been busy. My pistols needed some work. I took my triggers apart and stoned and polished them up. Made a big difference. Like butter now. I put on 10# Wollf hammer springs to reduce DA pull. Having the same set up as most, it should be 10# DA and 4# SA. Put the oversized mag release on my P2k... ti should be that way from the factory. It's the USP mag release. The factory P2k sk release is stupid small. $25 buck and 3 minutes is all it took to correct. I converted my HK45 to V4... deckocker only right side. I also removed the "trench" on the trigger guard. It does not bother everyone, but it does bother me, so now it is gone. I also added Trijicon HDs to my 45. I have Mepros on the P2K, but now I want some on that one too. :) However, my P2K sk had a really long reset that I was not happy about. A common complaint. My HK45 was a whole other story... the trigger pretty much sucked. The reset was great. Very short. Best reset on any HK. But the reset itself was very gritty and non positive, and there was a TON of creep. So I sent them off to Bill Springfield... which is local to me... and now... WOW! My P2k has a ~1/8" reset. Much shorter, nothing at all to complain about now. And the HK45... well it has to be the best trigger I have ever had. ZERO creep. Super crisp clean break. The over travel screw was put in both so that is non existent. The reset on the 45 was cut in half too... it's ridiculous... like 1/16". It is also crisp, sharp and positive. Better than the P2k. If loving a gun is wrong, I don't want to be right. :) Now all I have to do is get to the range and see how I like the improvements. Nothing left to do but shoot. They are really sweet.
  21. Thanks a bunch Robo. 1. I store my rifle horizontal so at least things are running down. 2. Yet with several hundred rounds through the new block, it still is not sealed. I still have fouling at the front and back of the new PRI block. There is a bit around the tube too, but most is from barrel/block seam. 3. Hu, good point. I have been doing some trigger work on my HKs and polishing things up... didn't really think about it. 4. Will do. One chamber brush down the drain. Ya, no compound. Shells are at 4:00 a good 6 feet away. But they do land on concrete, so they may bounce/roll a bit. And the bolt always locks back on empty mag... until it doesn't. :))
  22. Hey guys, so the saga continues. I can't get reliable runs of more than a 100 give or take, and the same thing. I'll get a short cycle, I'll lube it up and it will run for another 2-3 mags and same thing. I keep thinking I am not using enough lube, but it just does not seem right that it won't run right. I started another thread that I kind of messed up asking for conflicting things. But I did get some good suggestions, and I need to start from square one and go from there. Here was the plan: I got plenty of good advice from everyone. I'll use it next time up. I'll number my mags. I'm going to use a couple of the new Pmags I have... just because they will be from a different lot. I'll just shoot small groups and get more fail to lock back. I am going to clean up my buffer tube and measure again it's 7 5/8". But I can move the bolt back another 1/4" past the bolt lock. I'm going to run some Mobil 1 since that seems prudent. And check my brass when it does happen. I'm going to take a look and get some picks when it does jam to maybe see what's going on. Just start from the begining. I do not think it is unreasonable to run more than a 100 rounds before it jams. So... I just decided to go back to this thread since it had some history and info in it. Bad thing is I have had zero time to get back to the rifle. But I do want to go shoot soon. And I will take it a step at a time. QUESTIONS. It still has not been cleaned from last outing... about 150-200 rounds maybe, and it was acting up. I am tempted to NOT clean it and just pick up where I left off. Is that a good idea? If I do clean it, I am going to get out the drill and chamber brush and go to town. I want to take off the gas block and see what it looks like with that being a past problem. I was going to clean the buffer tube and see what it looks like. Is there anything else I should take a look at while doing that? How do you know if your rifle is properly gassed? I really do appriciate any help, and I have my bunchless panties on so I should be good to go. :))
  23. OK, seriously... so here is my latest. HK45 :))
  24. I got a slightly used H&K P2000 sk in 40S&W for a good price. DA/SA w/ night sights. Got it for carry since I'm not sure which pocket 9 to go with and it's Winter pretty much. Already smoothed the trigger and put in a lighter main spring. Dropped in the USP extended mag release too which is a TON better. The only fault I found was I could not believe they put such a small release on from the factory. With the extended, the paddle doesn't even phase me. Took it to the range and after 250 rounds I would have shot more if I had it. 40 is not a problem at all in this gun. Extended grip and full size mag is perfect. Oh, and I know there are other well made guns out there, but as a lefty, I'm sold on H&K. How nice it is operating the gun as it should be. I am new to hammers, but I am a total convert. All I know is tuned strikers... but for carry and home... DA/SA is perfect. The break in SA is near glass. I am so in love with this gun, I am selling my XD45 to get a HK45. :))
  25. Mine too. I'm working on trading my XD45 for a HK45. I just got a H&K and I'm in love. If interested... XD45 4", Springer trigger jog, ramp polish, and clean up. Springer extended slide lock, Green/yellow TFOs and 5 mags... only sat in my night stand... just saying????
