  1. I'm perpetually doing it. Now my thing I'm heavily stuck on is picking up parts kits for WWII guns. Haven't put one together yet, but getting a collection of the kits together.
  2. The other possibility is to not get an upper for it, or possibly even not get the barrel nut for it, until after the muzzle device is pinned. I can't see showing intent to build an SBR if you don't have the parts to complete an SBR upper.
  3. also welcome from Florida :)

I think this one wasn't if I recall from the packaging, none of that "up to 15% of a solution of water may have been added" on it

I brined a duck for thanksgiving, crushed in a mortar + pestle some garlic, shallots and rosemary (around 1/3 cup total), salt, water and some light brown sugar. It was awesome.
  7. from all that I've heard, for that to work at all (the DPMS barrel) you'd have to use a DPMS bolt carrier or at least bolt for correct headspacing. But I'm not even sure of that. I'd try to get lilja to take it back, and send you an armalite one. Well, actually i'd just build a DPMS rifle instead but that's me :D
  8. I've had 1 issue with one of the Tennessee facilities, but luckily that was it
  9. Honestly? a 14.5 with a welded on 1.5" muzzle brake should be plenty for that. Sure with the 20 I could go out to 900-100 yards with the right scope and if I was a better shooter :D but carrying it through the woods? that's a pain in the neck, fairly literally.
  10. budget and timing matters for the barrel. You might have to wait 6 months for some specific ones, and the price can range from $250-over $600. If its a hog hunter, then you are looking at unlikely to be shooting much over 200 yards, so a super high end barrel isn't necessary. Rainier Arms, Palmetto state armory, and Fulton tend to have decent prices on what they sell. I'm an LR308 person, so I don't really know much about the AR10 choices beyond that.
  11. If I had mine to do over again, i'd go with a slim profile 16" with a midlength gas I think. The 20 is pretty heavy, and its really not important for anything under 800 yards to have that extra length. And welcome from Florida!
  12. looks to me to be armalite. If it looks like that one below, its armalite AR10 if it looks like this, its DPMS LR308 if you look at the back where the buffer tower is, you can see that its curved on DPMS style, and a straight angle on AR10 Overall though it mostly matters for barrel nut. Your BCG and barrel have to match - so you could use an LR308 barrel, so long as its with a LR308 BCG. the lower parts kits are virtually identical, there are only a few pieces that are even different for AR15s. Its more about what you want to use it for, and how deep your wallet goes :D
  13. The question is whether its DPMS LR308 pattern, or Armalite AR10 pattern. Without knowing that, we can't tell. If you can put up pictures of it, we might be able to as the back end of the upper and where it meets the lower is a bit different in each.
  14. Its all relative - sort of like many peoples family trees in your neck of the woods :)
  15. I've called them a few times on things they had, and they've always been nice to deal with.
  16. I think this is a pretty slick choice http://www.amazon.com/ESEE-Knives-Izula-B-Survival-Kit/dp/B003SNHSUG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1387223963&sr=8-1&keywords=ESEE
  17. welcome from FL!
  18. No weight savings, just easier cleaning, less wear and looks nice
  19. done, why isn't he wearing a holster?
  20. you've got a smart dad there
  21. Pretty sweet. Is it staying uncoated for the build? I was pondering doing that sometime.
  22. Welcome from FL Oh and if it isn't made by Armalite, its not an AR10. Those Armalite guys can get touchy about that ;)
  23. Welcome from FL. I think the only thing i'd consider my 308 for defense use is if i'm camping and a bear attacks :) Cause I sure wouldn't want to shoot that thing in the house. beyond being deaf, it absolutely would pass through every wall including the concrete block
  24. they are so nice looking.
  25. cool, I was hoping to sell for holiday cash, but either way works as with a wife and 3 kids its a perpetual cash stream out the door :D Besides i'll be looking to pick up a used welder after the holidays to do some WWII gun kits with so i'll need the $$ for that.
