What else has 8 legs? Lobsters. I bet they taste like lobster. With a little garlic butter.

Getting the lead out, literally: US Army plans switch to ‘green’ bullets - The Daily Caller - July 24, 2013 Some people think it's a dumb idea. I doubt it's a good idea for civilian hunting rounds.

Former divorce lawyer here. When a woman wants out, that's what she wants, and most of them will give away the farm just to get out. When it looks like she wants all your stuff it's usually she's got a lawyer who's over-aggressive and wants to drive up the hourly fee$. My advice: find the most experienced lawyer you can find. The $ per hour will be spendy but in the end it will cost you half as much. Do not get a real estate lawyer, they totally suck at family law but pretend real well. A good lawyer is like a good gun, just think about it that way. And there's a reason why lawyers are called 'hired guns'.

Guess all you really need is bacon, period. Gotta wonder if anyone does just plain bacon on the grill.

I sincerely doubt the forearm would fit the DPMS LR-308T, someone please correct me if I'm wrong. If I'm wrong, I'm buying the set. If I'm right about the forearm, this is yet another case of not being able to just buy the grip. I really like wood furniture.

Wrap anything in bacon and you cannot fail.

What do you have on order or in the mail?
gnatshooter replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
I put in an order for the "Covert Compensator Flash Hider" from Black River Tactical. They don't sell their own stuff, they only go through dealers, so I ordered it through Bison Armory. Over there, they call it a "linear compensator", and that's what it is -- a lot like the Kies Blast Master, but Joe Bob Outfitters is out of stock. A muzzle device like this is supposed to work by sending the muzzle blast downrange to save your ears. I'm adding this on as a counterpart to the Heavy Buffer I got to reduce recoil on the LR 308. I guess you'd say I'm working on opposite ends of the rifle. -
Looking forward to hearing some detail on that project, I'm having thoughts in a similar direction.

Grip on AR-15/DPMS LR-308
gnatshooter replied to gnatshooter's topic in DPMS Panther Arms LR-308 | Bushmaster 308
Tubb Precision responded to my email about their grip on the DPMS LR-308. They said, yes, it will fit. Period. So it fits the DPMS, but won't fit an AR? Hm. -
I just got my DPMS LR-308T back from a trip home to the factory. It had consistent failures to eject, and the great folks at Scheels handled everything, from the original sale through the return. They're great folks! At the factory, they replaced the ejector and test-fired it to make sure that was the fix. I sure hope they're right. The entire turn-around time, from taking it to Scheels, and the rifle's delivery back to Scheels from the factory, was exactly four weeks. I don't know about other folks' experience with warranty work, so I don't know if this was fast or slow. But it sure seemed like a long four weeks to me! Scheels said they'd simply replace the rifle if it took 6 weeks. I'm glad I didn't go that route--they were willing to replace the rifle on the spot, but I was feeling generous and patient at the time. When I sent the rifle back, it already had a rear-receiver end plate/sling mount added on, which cost me $32.00. Which is a lot of money for something with no moving parts that probably cost $0.75 to produce. Now it's time to go back to breaking the barrel in, and dialing in the sights at the same time. I have a very cool set of iron sights, and I'll detail all this on a web page I'll share with you all when it's done and put up.

Grip on AR-15/DPMS LR-308
gnatshooter replied to gnatshooter's topic in DPMS Panther Arms LR-308 | Bushmaster 308
Well, if that's the only issue, I can fix that in less than two minutes with a belt sander. Very cool! As far as I can tell, Tubb is the only outfit that sells AR (sorta) wood grips anywhere. They'd make more sales, I'd bet, if they fixed a few things with their website -- and that pesky glitch with the safety lever. I know a couple pro woodworkers who could take that market in a hearbeat, and maybe they should. With the demand for AR-type rifles that look unique, I'd think the market for wood grips would be fairly big. Not big enough to retire on, maybe, but big enough to buy a fine rifle or two. -
Grip on AR-15/DPMS LR-308

In the video, do I hear him say "This one won't work on an AR-15"? http://www.davidtubb.com/t2k-rh-wood-grip-walnut Or maybe it just rhymes with that. -
Grip on AR-15/DPMS LR-308

I've done a fair amount of woodworking in my time, even some cabinets. One thing's for sure, you can remove wood from a wood piece, but you can't add it back. This needs to be right, and done right, right out of the box. Making this piece requires machines I don't have. -
Friends, I have a question. Does the grip (or 'pistol grip') on an AR-15 fit on a DPMS LR-308? The reason I ask is because I'm thinking about ordering a Tubb Precision T2K RH Wood Grip (Walnut). I have larger hands, and I also like wood -- sort of old-fashioned that way. So it would suit me well and make my rifle distinctive. Tubb isn't very good about explaining what fits what, but if I read things right, the grip they're selling at least fits the AR-15, maybe. Their references to the "SR-25 and TUBB 2000" are disturbing, and maybe irrelevant. And then they talk about AR "style" -- like it looks like Rambo might shoot bad guys with something similar, but actually only fits the Walt Disney platform. If it actually fits the AR, and the AR part 'crosses over' to the DPMS, I'm good to go. Thanks!

A heavy buffer for my DPMS LR-308T should arrive via UPS tomorrow. Thinking about ordering an extended bolt release http://bit.ly/12VkaNI -
Those "glorified wannabe renta cops" have all the .40 S&W JHP they could possibly shoot in a lifetime.

Now THAT is cool, a hard catcher, but a bag. Hybrid system. Looks good, too.

I shoot off the front deck of my house, yeah I know it's a luxury, and keep losing spent brass between the deck planks. So I've been looking at a brass-catcher myself. When I look at brass-catchers, I keep wondering what the trade-offs are between having a rigid brass-catcher, like BigP is looking at, and the bag-like things you can get. Like maybe the brass gets hung up on the bag, or the bag gets in the way of reaching for the trigger. And so on. Others might have a different idea, but I have to wonder if BigP could put some angle mounts on his scope rail and hang a brass catcher from them.

Hydraulic buffer for DPMS LR 308?
gnatshooter replied to gnatshooter's topic in DPMS Panther Arms LR-308 | Bushmaster 308
Nobody mentioned the spring. No, I didn't. What's going on with the spring? I don't have a flat spring, which seems to be the main concern of Heavy Buffers. -

Whew! Okay, you talked me into it. I just ordered the AR10R-XH -10 oz. heavy buffer from Heavy Buffers. One of you has to send them an invoice for your sales commission. -
Good read on the current ammo shortage
gnatshooter replied to shepp's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
Scairt the crap outta me, so I went looking. Yes, OSHA was going to regulate ammo the same as explosives, requiring delivery drivers to stay within 50 feet of ammo deliveries and customers would be frisked for matches, cigarette lighters etc. before being allowed near them. And you'd have to evacuate Wal-Mart ("explosives facility") during a thunderstorm. But that was back in 2007. It looks like we "dodged the bullet" on that one, but that doesn't mean they aren't still thinking about it. Time to join the NRA! -
Hydraulic buffer for DPMS LR 308?
gnatshooter replied to gnatshooter's topic in DPMS Panther Arms LR-308 | Bushmaster 308
So, in your opinion, why do rifle makers ship rifles with light buffers when most agree that heavy buffers are better?
