I run a DPMS LR308A2 carbine home build with a 16 inch barrel with no ill effects. I’ve put her out to three hundred yards with some very good groups. On another note I like the way a carbine fits my three wheeler. I really don’t have to worry about it getting caught in the brush because it doesn’t hang off the sides.

Back in the 60’s when I was in the Scouts my father was our instructor. We would go to the Jackson Barracks for indoor rifle practice. At that time the building was used for god knows everything from and armory to an indoor rifle and pistol range. Hell it was only had a hundred foot range. The building is still there, now it is used as so call museum.

I will call my DPMS Lr308 an AR10 Clone. The 308 version came first. The ARMY didn’t want the 308 but want to pussyfie the ARMY with the 5.56 (glorified supper 22) I have several poodle shooters. I won’t pay for a name. The DPMS LR308 has more compatibility with other manufactures than Armalite does. There is no milspec for the AR10 like there is for the AR15. If my memory is correct (maybe others know more) there was only two countries that used the AR10, Chili was one and I don’t remember the other. It’s just like AR15, the AR stands for Armalite period. Nobody complains about that do they? I have two DPMS LR308’s. One is a 20”rifle flat top with free flout handguard, and the other I built as an A2 carbine with triangle carbine hand guard. Wolf

I hate foot ball. Matter of fact I hate all collegiate sports. If it doesn’t have a barrel and a trigger or a rod and real attached to it I don’t want anything to do with it. Foot ball! Give them all Swords and Shields and let them go at it. The winners win. As for I am concerned they are a bunch of overpaid idiots. On Sunday’s when there could be a good movie on they got dam Foot Ball. If you want to watch Foot Ball go to the game. Wolf

This is my DPMS LR308 A2 Carbine. You can see I used a carbine triangle hand guard on it. the only thing I had to mod the heat shield. Wolf -

From what I have found DPMS is the more common. More parts are compatible. The trigger groups are the same as AR15’s. The main diff are the locking pens which are longer for the 308 version. From what I see you went with the standard LR308. Gas tubs, stocks, forearms and other AR15 parts will inter change. Wolf -
If you want a good AR15-45 this is a good builder. Ron Williams did the uppers for Bazooka Bro. Now he does his own guns under RMW Extremes or you can contact Mad Machinist. This is the info I have on both of them Ron Williams RMW Xtreme 328 45th St. Ct. West Palmetto, FL 34221 07FFL/02 SOT 941.729.2451 Rudolph N. I stand corrected. The 20 round PMags do fit. But they are tight because of the fat bottom or floor plate. Wolf
-
The twenty rd PMags won’t fit either there are too long to. The metal mags from DPMS, ASC, C products and others fit nicely. Wolf

The laws go changed some time back. All you need is a fence now. Don’t need to put up signs anymore for it to be posted. Fence means posted, keep out. Wolf
-
Before the time of trail cams we used to just did people hunts. Got real good at concealment. In Louisiana POSTED property is just that. Signs say to stay out, that is just what it means. I personally have marched many of trespasser to the house and called the law to come and get them. Wolf

I think that bug died. It may come back to life one day. I have the wants to do a big bore in 450 Marlin. But what turns me off is round capacity. Wolf

Stupid question time..So what exactly do you call this thing.

I think what happened is the mil-spec thing. All the major AR15’s are made to Mil-Spec. Internal dimensions and internal parts are interchangeable between manufactures. Everyone wants what the Military is using. Some companies have changed the looks of the upper and lower some to catch your eye to sell their wares. Insides still the same mil-spec. Sense there is no mil-spec for AR10’s and Armalite bought the name and patented there lower DPMS and the others just up sized the AR15 to the size of the AR10. So now we have the Armalite version and the DPMS version. No one makes a true AR10, they are all clones. Armalite doesn’t even make a true AR10. Wolf -

I for one call my DPMS LR308’s AR10 clones. The 308 version was designed first and was called an AR10. I can’t help it that the army didn’t adopt it, but want something smaller and lighter. Then came the AR15 which the ARMY calls the M16 and that’s history. Sure Armalite bought the name AR10 so no one else can call them that too. Everyone that makes an AR15 type weapon makes them to military specifications. There wear only a couple hundred true AR10’s built and most went to Chile and Belgium non to the US ARMY so no military specs. So now everyone makes their own version of the father of the AR15, the AR10. I call my DPMS LR308’s AR10 clones. Wolf -
The Mice and Rats reproduced quit well hear. I bought my first two mouse guns pre-built. There two strait flat tops. Then I got the bug and started building. Before I knew it the Mouse population had grown to 22 in 2 different flavors. Two 22cal, twenty 5.56’s and then along came a special Mouse in 45acp. Then the Rats invaded, One pre-built DPMS rifle 20 inch and I built my baby a 16 inch carbine. Wolf

Thank you. I like the Fleck, and the way it blends in. You just gave me a new name Carnivore aka Wolf

TM, Tactical Machine makes a very nice DPMS compatible lower. Fit is real good. Wolf

Nice build. Mice like company. Well you built a 308 AR10 clone which I call Rat guns. Now it’s time to build another Rat or a Mouse gun. You know Rats like company too. You can’t just build one; it’s like eating potato chips, you just can’t eat one. Wolf
