  1. Very nice. Well done.
  2. Not my Wife. Since I retired this past year I do the dishes, laundry, just mine as she does not like the way I do laundry. I just throw all the crap in, do not measure the soap, turn it on and do not worry about the temp or settings. She brings the food home as she does like my cooking but she probably does think about what to wear to work the next day. I farm a bit of land. How am I suppose to get my builds and reloading done. oh well, there is always tomorrow Do not fret to much about the way women think, because you will never figure it out. They are always changing their minds and thinking about something else. I put mileage stickers on the window for service reminders but things still go wrong and she just cannot figure it out. Sorry about your pissing Dodge. Is it a male or female? ^-^
  3. Good advice. My first one done went fine but that does not mean the next one will (well almost). To many irons in the fire. Since retirement I have started to many projects at once. Thanks for the reply.
  4. Thanks for the reply. Very nice. well done. my upper and lower are raw. I will need to sandblast the hand guard. What is your suggestion regarding: spraying the 80% lower pryor or after finishing? So you had no problem with any of the pins on the lower by spraying over?
  5. I am going to do a white camo on my rifle and was wondering how difficult is white to work with? Or is it?
  6. you are making me feel better, only a year for me. What do you have for sights, optics and trigger? All over the paper? how many rounds did you run through it? Just asking. <thumbsup>
  7. Nice links. Thanks
  8. I have a muzzle brake, adjustable gas block, SSA trigger, PRS stock on my 24" (wished I would have gotten a 20") I did get a Rainier .223 wylde barrel and the bolt they headspaced. I think if you have your own bolt you can send it in to them and they will headspace it for you. I'd think twice about the PSA receiver. (check out some of the reviews from some of the forums out there)
  9. Good you are checking out this site first ( I wish I had), there are a lot of knowledgeable people hear. My 2 cents: skip the fluted barrel unless you just like the looks as the weight savings from prone target shooting is not much. length: shorter will equal larger sd and more moa. enough to make a difference well that is up to you. I'd say under 700-800 yds go with the 20", once again check the ballistic tables. Speaking of ballistics: Are you sold on the .308?( I have a 24' S/S barrel in 308 ) I am now collecting parts for a 6.5mm .260 Rem, there is also a couple of others in 6.5 that may be of interest. Optics: I could not afford the high dollar glass so I ended up with the Sightron III 6x24-50 2 moa. I also have one on my bolt action 260 Rem. I had a friend with a Weaver Classic 6x24-50 he has on his 308 for about half the price of the Sightron. I liked enough to put on a AR-223.what ever glass you end up with be sure it is going to have enough adjustment to reach the distance you want. My ranges are 800 for the 308, 5-600 on the .223 and 1000-1200 on the 6.5. I do have a service rifle with open sights for real shorter distances ( old age eyes) Disclaimer: All of the above are from my experience and IMO, if others have different or better thoughts please feel free to state because I can always change mine. Good luck and am looking forward to the progress reports. P.S.check out Bison Armory for barrels and uppers.
  10. Good find, definitely worth a shot.pun intended. Anybody know the price breakdown on reloading that round? ( for comparison )
  11. Very nice write up, all the right things in the right places to achieve your goal. Mine is 12lb fully loaded out the door, that is another story. Thanks for the post.
  12. Thanks for the information. There is an eagle and a flag on the mag-well. If it is .003. would taking it down that much effect the integrity?
  13. Do the ATF depth requirements of 0.003 apply to homebuilds?
  14. I sand blasted some ornamental wrought iron with 100 grit sandblasting sand, it was very fine. could I use the same type of sand or should I go with what you said above? Also the lower I have is a AR-15 80% which is from a friend whom gave it to me because he stepped up to the AR-308. He had some engraving done which I would like to remove. Will the sandblasting take that off or should I just leave it as it is not that bad of artwork.
  15. I want to strip a black anodized upper and lower receiver. Can sand be used?
  16. thanks for the reply.

  20. Warthog984, congratulations.. I have been following this thread closely. I built a 308 this past winter and spring and have feeding problems also. I got so feed up so I parked it in the closet and built a savage .260 bolt action. It turned out perfect. Anyway, now I have a lot more information thanks to you and everyone on this site. Even though it was not my rifle, I wish to thank you and everyone else for their contributions. You may be hearing from me in the near future regarding this issue.
