  1. Those are great scopes but they are a little heavy at over 30 oz. each. I want to stay closer to 20-24 oz. The FX1000 is almost there at 24.5 oz. I'm trying to keep this as light as possible. i'm checking the local sources to find a FX to look at.
  2. That's definitely on the list, Also looking at the Nikon FX-1000 series. I've always liked Nikon glass.. Though it is not FFP, I like the Zeiss HD5 series also.
  3. My wonderful wife bought me a new lightweight 7mm Rem Mag for my birthday. Now I need to find a scope for it. I'm looking for suggestions for something in the 4-16 or 5-25, first focal plane that is around $1,000 and doesn't weigh a ton. Any suggestions?
  4. Yeah, between the two rulings, either California ER's are going to fill up with liberals having heart attacks or the bars are going to a big payday.
  5. The 9th Circuit is on a roll. They just declared that open carry is protected by the 2nd Amendment. https://www.yahoo.com/news/appeals-court-says-2nd-amendment-allows-open-carry-181240255.html

  7. I'm betting orders will exceed production for awhile. That looks like a nice functional bipod.
  8. I'm really interested to see how yours does.
  9. Same 16" barrel. I've gone thru 3 boxes of Hornady 123 gn ELD Match and it won't group. At first I thought it might be the crappy scope I put on it. But I have tried it with a Primary Arms 1-6 ACSS and it still wouldn't group. I broke it in with one round, bore snake, one round bore snake, for 5 rounds and then snake after every 5 rounds for three cycles.
  10. 98, I hope you have better luck with your barrel than I have had with mine. It shoots about a 3" group at 50 yds.
  11. Primary Arms has their blemished scopes on sale. 4X14 FFP scopes are $50 off.
  12. Anyone else listen to JJ Grey and Mofro? Not sure how to embred so here is a link. https://youtu.be/z7CUR2cozts
  13. Welcome from East of Dallas.
  14. Order forms are now available online.
  15. Well said JT! Every time I browse the topics I learn something new.
  16. Wow, great build. I was going to ask how the 5R barrel did, but that is obvious!
  17. That is awesome.
  18. There are three branches of government. But only one interprets the constitution and the law. The other two write the laws and run the country. It says: “We also recognize another important limitation on the right to keep and carry arms. Miller (an earlier case) said, as we have explained, that the sorts of weapons protected were those “in common use at the time”. We think that limitation is fairly supported by the historical tradition of prohibiting the carrying of ‘dangerous and unusual weapons.’ ” In the wake of all of the mass shootings, how hard do you think it would be for anti-gun lobby to push the MSR as a "dangerous " firearm to support another assault weapons ban? If you decided to climb Mount Everest and had never climbed before, would you go straight to Everest or would you start on a smaller mountain. Look, it is apparent that no one is going to change their minds on this subject. So let's just agree to disagree and move on. Deal with the issues as you feel the need. I for one am going to go enjoy the rest of my holiday. THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE SERVED AND SACRIFICED.
  19. That's the point. Every piece of legislation starts with an idea that someone proposes To be offensive and promote legislation that supports and protects us instead of letting the gun control lobby write the law is the goal. It is not a red herring. The Supreme Court has already ruled that citizens do not have the right to all firearms. The NFA, AWB and District of Columbia vs. Heller. http://bigthink.com/risk-reason-and-reality/the-supreme-court-ruling-on-the-2nd-amendment-did-not-grant-an-unlimited-right-to-own-guns Just as free speech isn't totally free either. And, yes they do limit speech of TV. The FCC has a whole list of words that you can't say on TV. And if you still think it is free, just go yell "FIRE" in a theater and see how fast you are arrested. You can quote the founding fathers, the Federalist Papers, and any other 240 year old paper you want to but they are not legal documents with respect to the government. They are opinions. It is the 9 Supreme Court Justices sitting on the bench in Washington that are interpreting the Constitution that is deciding the fate of your gun rights.
  20. jtallen83 and Hotwrench, Your right, we need to do all of this. And while we do this and turn 100's to our side, another school shooting will turn thousands against us. I think the NRA goes about fighting this the wrong way. Instead of just promoting carrying a firearm, they need to bring out the people who have defended themselves with a firearm and let them tell their story. At the rate that school shootings are happening, we don't have decades to re-educate the population. When the constitution was written, it was written vaguely and ambiguous. They did that so that the rights of the people are assumed and not dictated. They also did that so that the meaning of the constitution could be interpreted and not have to be amended on a constant basis. That's partially why there are only 27 constitutional amendments. Conversely, the Texas constitution was written very specifically and has now been amended 491 times. "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." That's the 2nd Amendment. While your interpretation is that there is no limit on what firearm a citizen should be able to own, the liberal next door's interpretation is that it only means a flintlock pistol or rifle. After all, those are the weapons of the period when the constitution was written. The second amendment guarantees the right to keep and bear arms, but it doesn't say the "right to keep any and all arms". It is up to the supreme court to interpret the constitution and apply it to the laws as they are written today. There are already dozens if not hundreds of laws on the books that restrict firearms and have been declared constitutional. And that is with a conservative supreme court. What happens if the next democratic president gets to choose one or more supreme court justices? There are three that are age 79 or older. Why not take a page from the gun control lobby, while your beating on the front door to keep your arms, sneak through the back door and protect your rights with a federal license. Also, there was nothing in the "semi auto license" idea about registration. As I understood it, any transactions between license holders were not recorded. And any purchases from dealers would still be handled as they are now. In 1787 when the constitution was written, there were about 3.9 million people. Now there is about 326 million people. Almost 100 times more. Of those 326 million, a little over a third own guns. That's over half of the population that either are against guns or likely don't care about gun rights because they are not affected. Here's my opinion,. You can take it for whatever you think it is worth. Gun control is a slippery slope. The NRA fights to keep us at the top of the hill but we are already sliding down it. A well written "semi-auto license" could be the stake in the ground that gives us the leverage and time to climb back up the hill. Sorry if this seems to ramble, it's 2:00 am and i am awake thanks to my son's new puppy.
  21. Picked up a 6.5 Grendal BCG and barrel from Primary Arms for $125. Be here Tuesday.
  22. That seems to be a fairly common theme. We had another shooting at a school south of Dallas that was over a girl. Luckily, no one died.
  23. Just like buying a car. The base model is cheap, it's all of the upgrades that eat a hole in your pocket book
  24. Great review. I have a renewed interest in one of these after looking at a Thermal. I know these aren't thermal but they are in my price range. Did you get the X Sight II or the new 4K? Which power did you get?
  25. Welcome from another True Texan
