  1. MY grandson at 15 years: He is now a Petty Officer 3rd class in the US NAVY
  2. Well you could use one of these on a close quarters range. Only less than $60 not bad if you don't want to chase brass on some other shooters area. It will pay for itself in saved brass. You shoot em over in my lane that I'm paying for and what lands here stays here...hear? It wouldn't be real safe to try picking up brass close to where I'm shooting, I may get distracted.
  3. Glad for the link our foot store with good arch supports and inner soles went out of business

Three decimal point five years, Wow... I still give the FA a whack after loading a new magazine. A habit from boot camp rifle training at Camp Matthews in 1960. Was taught to give the M1 operating rod handle a whack after loading a clip of 8, and the first round chambered.
  6. When I had a gunshop about 50% of my business the month before dove season, deer season, quail season, etc.,etc. was doing complete cleaning job at $25 per gun I usually could do a couple in an hour. I had several offers of trade ins that just needed cleaning. The worst I ever saw was a Remington Nylon ranchers truck gun that was "wore out" I bought for "parts" for $5.00. I never had any of the aerosol stuff, except WD-40 and it worked pretty well, back then and tore the old nylon job down not too bad of a job, the bad part was putting it back together. No U-tube! I had to order a factory manual, it did shoot good after that. Sold it for around $100 and lost money, after that cleaning job (labor + supplies) LOL.
  7. Political correctness From a recent Email...... True story: Where did the term 'politically correct' originate? For the last six odd years, almost all of the things I wanted to write or say, have been stymied by a recently coined term referred to as "POLITICAL CORRECTNESS"! Although I consider myself rather fluent in the English language, that term was not in my vocabulary. My curiosity got the best of me and I decided to do a little research. After two weeks of chasing fruitless leads, I found what I'd been looking for at the Truman Library and Museum in Independence Missouri. An unnamed source there sent me copies of four telegrams that were exchanged between Harry Truman and Douglas MacArthur on the day before the actual signing of the Surrender Agreement. The contents of those four telegrams below are exactly as received, not a word has been added or deleted! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (1) Tokyo,Japan 0800-September 1,1945 To: President Harry S Truman From: General D A MacArthur Tomorrow we meet with those yellow bellied bastards and sign the Surrender Documents, any last minute instructions? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (2) Washington, D C 1300-September 1, 1945 To: D A MacArthur From: H S Truman Congratulations, job well done, but you must tone down your obvious dislike of the Japanese when discussing the terms of the surrender with the press, because some of your remarks are fundamentally not politically correct! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (3) Tokyo, Japan 1630-September 1, 1945 To: H S Truman From: D A MacArthur and C H Nimitz Wilco Sir, but both Chester and I are somewhat confused, exactly what does the term politically correct mean? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (4) Washington, D C 2120-September 1, 1945 To: D A MacArthur/C H Nimitz From: H S Truman Political Correctness is a doctrine, recently fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and promoted by a sick mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of poop by the clean end!
  8. Boy Howdy! You got that exactly right!
  9. I don't have NRA or any political or liberal kinds of decals or bumper stickers on my cars. I also do concealed carry of firearms sharp knives. I like stealth rather than showing off how macho I am.However, I consider myself as being too old, slow on my feet and hate pain too much to take a beating from a young punk. I rry to be aware of the surrounding area and well armed, well trained and practice away from show off shooters. Open carry should be a right but so is concealed carry ( IMHO )
  10. A 2 camera wireless Uniden surveillance setup for the yard and shop areas.
  11. I don't thank the word BAN was ever in the letter, I think that he ASKED that their customers not open carry in the Whataburger stores. Asking is one thing and BANNing is another thing in Texas. But if you don't want a Whataburger don't go in and buy one, just go into McDonald's, Burger King, or the Jack in the Box, H@@ters, Hardy's, White Castle, Etc.,Etc. I suppose they welcome open carry of handguns Eh?
  12. Yes siree.... Bob!
  13. Is that South of Vera on US 82? and North of Munday? I was raised in that area East in Wichita County near Lake Kemp and Lake Diversion. That is not too far SW from Waggoner 3 D ranch.
  14. I didn't know diddley about a LR308 never shot one, I have seen the insides of many firearms. I did order a civilian Colt bull barrel .223 target model for a young Air Force vet. back in 1987 and touched it to record the serial number back when I had my gunshop. I also had a Sterling arms Armalite .223, that I sold in 2 days, seemed kinda like a toy girls or little boy's gun after working on M1s, M14s and M60s. Weatherby .300 Magnums etc., etc. I have had as much repair work for the public as I ever want, and I've had enough visits from ATF goons that hardly know a ,22 long rifle from a 60mm mortar...Boy Howdy some customers are really PITA they want a miracle fix-up done for no more than $25. I still do my personal work, which is okay without a FFL. and like the man said " You do what you want it is your money and your story tell it how you like... good luck..." that is how we do it.
  15. I agree that a lot of folks get more of a feeling of accomplishment by"building" their shooting stick from parts from different places then have it look and shoot well. But for others, me included,it would be like using the parts list to order an engine, drivetrain, chassis, body and tires and wheels from aftermarket vendors to "build" your own Chevy Suburban, rather than going to the Chevy store and buying a factory built one with a factory warranty. Different strokes for different folks.
  16. The force and inertia of the bcg and the bolt it self slamming into battery in a loosely held DPMS rifle puts some forward moving inertia on the spring loaded hammer that must be contained by the sear. Fiddling around such as stoneing the surfaces of a factory installed trigger ,sear, and hammer surfaces can cause unseen problems.
  17. I hope you kept the brass from the slam fire incident, I know I probably would have shook up too much to think of that. I hope you have determined it was a Winchester extra sensitive primer, and/or a faulty trigger.
  18. Welcome from Central Texas, in Comanche County ...Lake Proctor is finally full! A contractor from Flower Mound just installed a new storm shelter for us last month and did a fine job
  19. This new post today, could be a reason to buy a complete new in the box DPMS rifle, or if you are interested in shooting soon rather than watch for the mailman or the brown truck to bring your parts over the next month or so.... Just another point of view.
  20. I have family in Missouri on both sides Mom was from Alton, Oregon county and Dad's family was from the Carthage area. Welcome from Central Texas.
